I think thy must all know it's a hot potato they'd better leave alone during campaign season since both parties are on the WRONG side of the issue and out of step with the American public. Who's got the guts to incur that kind of backlash? If they pay attention to polls and answer their phones, they should have a good idea of public sentiment.
