Excellent points you brought up. It was a lopsided interview, with the same dogged and tired questions... and then he wasn't going to let the PRES answer some of them. The Pres had to ask, at least twice to be allowed to finish or clarify his answer. My estimate of Russert has diminished in direct proportion to his overreaching "gotcha" type questions. He didn't ask tough questions... he asked "gotcha" quesitons.

The President has too much class; he doesn't hate his enemies the way I hate his enemies. There is none of that "Al Gore ignorance" in him.
In a sense this drives me nuts, just as it did during the debates of 2000...the door is constantly left open for the President to walk through and shove it up the opponents butts yet he won't do it.

I also REALLY liked his analysis of the Vietnam war when he said it was very "political" and that he had reflected on what went wrong. He said a leader should allow the military to make judgements in order do what was necessary to WIN! I think anyone watching the interview would be reassured about America being SECURE with this president
I REALLY agree with you. I thought that was one of the strongest parts of the interview - when GW talked about the "lessons" learned from Vietnam, and how that was a "political" war.
A person in a position of power who can reflect and learn is he kind of leader people want.

I've posted this before but in case you missed it...
This is what DU'ers have to say about Kerry:
Kerry manages to make a corpse look engaging.
I also worry about the way he is such a podium speaker - not a regular guy type - I fear he won't wear well.
What worries me about Kerry is how low energy and sickly he appears. Botox can hide the wrinkles for a while, but he's weak and it shows.
Like Molly Ivins says, Kerry could take the excitement out of a soccer riot.

Ask Google a question and found this answer:
http://www.issues2000.org/askme/height.htm (2000)The height of the two candidates, as given by their respective press offices at the White House and in Austin, TX, is:
Gore: 6'1:
Bush: 6'
To: Lauratealeaf
Haven't you heard about this height issue before in elections? It does seem to be true most of the times. That is what I'm talking about. Btw, I am short. ;-)

Oh for heaven's sake, quit your worrying about Kerry's height. President Bush stands taller in many ways. President Bush stands tall, period.

I think Bush finished very strong. I agree. I can't wait to see Kerry crash and burn when the real campaign gets under way.

I think Bush did quite well handling the interview which was really more like a cross examination where the attorney keeps asking the witness the same question in a slightly different way in an effort to trip him up. It was really a poor tactic by Mr. Potato Head and a disservice to the Nation. It would have been much informative if TR had asked him about other issues.
Bush was absolutely fantastic in handling the AWOL question, the polls and the economy. The only problem on Iraq was that TR kept asking the same question over and over, but GWB scored many good points especially that Congress saw the same information.
Bush was terrific in the last five minutes when he talked about why he was going to win.
Russert looked nervous and had poor body language.
To: Amelia
Good points.
Not to mention, Russert had to play a good many of his cards/facts/charts--which helps us to a better job to present our philosophy with confidence. We know more about what we're up against.
I do wish that when Russert showed us the numbers, that W would have said, "Instead, Tim, show me a graph of what is actually happening, and all can then see the forward movement in the numbers of our every day progress. Our ecomomy is dynamic, and improving."

I think President Bush and PM Aznar are tight.
Good!
I still have in my mind the picture of Bush, Blair and Aznar in the Azores. His profile isn't as high as Bush and Blair's, but you know he must have been under pressure from France and Germany to buck us and go with them. He is a true friend to America and to righteousness.
I, too, was pleased when President Bush brought out his comment about how Bush is almost as disliked as Reagan over in Europe.

LOL, Like me you were probably answering the questions for President Bush and not in the same way... LOl. Didn't you just want to tell Russert where to get off. The President really showed class.

LOL Kerry shows his jealousy a little too much. He is even worse than a jealous woman. In fact Kerry is starting to act like a woman obsessed with her looks. Botox, worried about what Bush is wearing. He is sickening! And I am a woman and I noticed it.

Please don't use "TR" to designate Tim Russert. "TR" stands for Teddy Roosevelt. Please don't confuse me. A minor point to some, but not to me.
Thanks.
