The President of the US should be addressed as President, not "George". I get upset with CNN referring to the President as Bush and Mr. Bush. Your reference to "George" is truly a lack of respect. Hence, you deserve no respect for your post which I stopped reading after the fourth paragraph. Go back to DU you are a dead give away. I'm surprised you didn't call him shrub.

Bush mentions that Russert's chart doesn't show the unemployment way down (5.6%?)

Exactly!!! what happened to having to work hard to learn a skill to be a cut above in this life for what you want and have, going to school, etc., to earn a living to be successful? it's certainly not handed to you, so where do they fit saying "government should hand that to me?"

I agree -

W's should be speak in forums like MTP as often as possible. He should be less scripted, but he comes off very reasonable. In the post 9/11 world, he has to make tough calls. Well he made it, and he can't let the armchair critics to back down.

The next admin official need to come out and answer seriosu questions is Cheney. Cheney is weighing down the ticket. He should NOT be hiding in his own spiderhole and not dealing with the facts. Smoke Cheney out to deal with the facts or dump him in 2004. I am convince the low approvals of Cheney is hurting Bush bad here. Time to face the music. I honestly believe Bush made the best call with the info he had, but I am far less confident on the legitimacy of the intel. Cheney/Libby got! Maybe the President was misled by his aides, who the heck know. Time to find out the truth.

talking about the economy--

the recession showed up when I got in office. 9/11 had a huge effect on the economy. Corporate scandals had an effect.

I acted by cutting taxes, and that has led to this recovery. I'm not suggesting you're only showing bad numbers, Tim, but how about the good numbers? The economic stimulus plan is having a good difference.

It is happening... This economy has been thruogh a lot, and that's why I'm so optimistic.

This economy is coming around just right, quite frankly.

Millbank says his credibility is falling.

I saw Millbank say that and I thought he sounded like an idiot. These polls will go up and down, ec., etc.

You know, back in Nov 2002, when Gov Jeb Bush was running for re-election, the polls had him neck and neck all the way through with his opponent, the Dem, Bill McBride. Then, suddenly, the night before the election, Zogby came out and said what I had been saying all along - this Jeb Bush is about to win this election in a double-digit landslide. And, Gov Bush did win it that way, by 14 points.

So, from now to Nov 2004, I don't think these polls will mean much. What happens on Election Day is what counts, and on that day, I think people will want to stay the course with GW.

Kay woman with BBC on Matthews says President Bush talks about jobs but appears removed from the reality of people's lives.

Ed Gordon says in the back of his mind he's afraid of following in his father's footsteps of only one term (Matthews had played that clip of Kerry shouting "Like father, like son, one term and you're done").

Matthews: He was magnificent as our warrior president why has that changed. Brooks says because of Kerry.

The next admin official need to come out and answer seriosu questions is Cheney.

I agree, and I think Cheney comes off extremely well when he speaks, as he is always confident and calm. People need to see more of both GW and Cheney, because when they are not out as often, that alone is what looks bad. GW did a terrific job here with Russert. Even some of the brighter Dems at a Dem site are grudingly conceeding that.

EXACTLY!

Now I'm wondering when the Dims and their supportive media are going to ask President Bush to agree to a lie detector test, live on CNN or something.

"He's having a bad few weeks, and it may continue for a while."

No it won't. Bush has a ton of money in the bank and he's going to spend it.

There are only so many ways the president can say why he believes Saddam was a threat

I find NOTHING wrong with repeating an answer to the same question asked 50 different ways. I like clarity and staying on message. You know where you stand with a man like that. One doesn't do better in my judgement if he answers the SAME question asked 50 times in 50 different ways. When it is you wonder how he REALLY answered.

The President wouldn't budge.

Timmy's gonna need a cheesecake after this.

We're dealing with entitlement programs. It will be a test of fiscal discipline on both sides of the aisle.

TR: base conservatives--you're the biggest spender in history.

GW: they're wrong. Our base spending is steadily declining. Also, we are at war. Any time you commit troops in harms way, they must have the best training, the best pay.

TR: why not raise taxes?

GW: because I believe te best way to stimulate economic growht is to let people keep more of their own money. I'm more worried about the fellow looking for a job. When you stimulate the economy, it's more likely that man will find a job.

Lowering the child credit, and therefore raising taxes on working family, makes it harder for working families, and I'm not going to have any of it.

The voice does sound overbearing in a kind of condescending way...

What really is icky tho' is the way he sticks his tongue out--Yes, I said the way he sticks his tongue out! If you watch him for more than a minute or two you will see it. I have not seen anyone else comment on this.

He does it like old people do it--a mindless, habitual gesture...not moistening his lips or anything meant to suggest that he is thinking about a response.

NO, just--VERY SNAKELIKE and VERY ICKY! Watch for it--I can't be the only one that has noticed...
