"The Rats have consistently painted PResident Bush as more dangerous than Saddam Hussein and OBL."
Oh so true, I just had to repeat that.

Thanks.
Actually, I have been around for a while but have been travelling a lot and have not had much of a chance to post.

Actually, it was much more forceful than that! The President said, "I'll tell you WHAT I DON'T LIKE IS PEOPLE COMPARING THE NATIONAL GUARD AS SOMETHING OTHER THAN MILITARY SERVICE". When the President said that, I expected sparks to come out of his eyes .. HE WAS MAD and his voice reflected it. And .. he made a hand gesture, like pointing toward Tim. But .. he never lost his cool. He also remarked that National Guard are currently serving in Iraq.

Now that I've had the chance to catch a re-run, I think the people who didn't much like Bush before the interview probably found little to like about the interview, and of course the opposite is also true...

And .. it was great point he made about Vietnam being a political war and not a war run by military. I liked his explanation of giving the military the goal and allowing them to design a way to accomplish it.

I loved this chart and the President nuked the unemployment numbers by saying it didn't show the fact that the unemployment had been a lot higher, and it was already on its way back down.

I agree with your perception of his comments regarding our National Guard.
The following is my post about this and a few other moments in the MTP interview on the Drudge thread tonight.

I agree with your response about our President's interview with Russert this AM.
This man, this good man, made his points clearly and without that creepy clintonian wordplay that the democrats seem to need to resort to because they are unconvicted and vascillate with the wind.
What I remember clearly from the interview was our President taking a moment to speak directly to the parents of our precious troops who have sacrificed with their very lives in Iraq.
And when he spoke in defense of the National Guard and let it be known that trashing himself was ok, but trashing the importance of our National Guard was pathetic...just WOW!
And lastly, when he spoke so directly to all of us with his decisive declaration that he is NOT poll driven, never will be, will NOT be changing his policies in terms of what he believes will keep our nation secure and exactly how he percieves America's role in this world and how he intends to pursue this vision, regardless.
I love him.
He elevates this nation with his refusal to bend to the whims of opponents, be it press corp or their bosses at the DNC, or foreign nations wanting to hold back America for nefarious reasons. This President will NEVER sacrifice our national wellfare for a piece of gold, a fake coalition or a false shadow of security in exchange for a slice of popularity.
Very unclintonian of this good statesman.
Rock solid, 'bring it on' type talk. No fear, no vascillation, what it is - is what it is. Is that refreshing or what? (No wonder this man drives democrats crazy by simply being himself! LOL)
What you see is what you get and what you hear you can depend upon type talk.
Embrace it or vote for someone else type of delivery.
I understand this, and it gives me great hope.

Yeah, we in the Nashville area are well versed on Gore's Vanderbilt and journalistic days at The Tennessean. The pot stories keep coming up!

I thought the President was very forceful. Yes, he did hesitate a little, but he was just trying to word things correctly. I know this bothers the slick-meisters in the dem party, but I personally don't have a problem with it.

I watched it. I thought he did fine. The writers and professional pundits I read were, as usual, trying to "sex up" politics. They like to pretend people other than us junkies are paying attention! If tomorrow it was reported Bush ate oatmeal for breakfast instead of his usual Corn Flakes, they'd write headlines like, "Bush shoring up oat farmer base, disses Iowa".
The first full thirty minutes was Russert (not a journalist but an ex-politico operative ala Stepphie Boy) asking the same question in different forms..."So, Mr. President, given we haven't found stockpiles of WMD's in Iraq, should you still be having sex with your wife"?
Or, "Mr. President, forgetting I'm a moron and a political hack, since David Kay says we'll never find large stockpiles of WMD's in Iraq and I never bothered to listen to anything he said after that because I'm really just a 14 year old boy that doesn't want to grow up but instead have sex with Tinkerbell and leave flaming doggie doo on Capt. Hooks doorstep, shouldn't you basically just kill yourself"?
The rest of the program was worse. He tried the old "static" model of tax cuts by claiming they "take money from the treasury" (at least he had the guts to make the most ridiculous and worst point about lowering tax rates while the Dem politicians play with the words).
He threw out the LIE that "Clinton left us with a surplus and now you have a $521 bn deficit". All CBO crap based on projections and not reality. It was the GOP Congress that gave us a one year surplus with surplus projections, not Clinton who fought them tooth and nail about "slashing programs" like Medicare (decreasing the large increase to just a big increase).
The professional pundits think Bush comes off bad when he "uh uh's" and stops to actually think instead of just throwing out memorized lines and talking points like Clinton and most Dems.
I could almost see Bush wanting to talk like he probably did in his drinking and less religious days. Throwing in his TRUE thinking and the colorful words to go with it. I think he pauses to catch himself from saying, "that's the biggest crock of sh** question I've ever heard Russert. What, did your mommy breast feed you too long?" Or, "the questions about my National Guard service just come from the same worthless pieces of bulls*** that spit on our soldiers after Vietnam", etc.
And I liked when he said he didn't think it was a good idea (free advice for you Kerry, from the guy that's going to wipe his a$$ with you in November) to compare service in the National Guard to "other things"...I wish he had been more specific but anyone actually wathcing (us junkies) knew what he was referring to. And I liked it when he said Vietnam was a political war and the politicians, not the military, screwed the pooch there. Totally true and totally wipes out Kerry's Vietnam record and highlights his Jane Fonda moments after he returned.
Nixon did more to let the military do it's job and caught more flack for it (Laos, more bombing which the Dems loved in Kosovo, and other moves) even though his political moves were mostly in concert with the peace process to end the conflict. Johnson and McNamara were far worse than Nixon and Kissinger in their execution of that war.
Overall, I think Russert looked the worse. He was not very professional and was scowling the entire time! I looked like a hit piece.

Thanks, but I didn't get back on line until now -- Mon. morning. Peggy Noonan's column wasn't entirely favorable, though.

Sad but true. A vile dem was elected governor, (Byrne) in New Jersey because he had nice blue eyes and a cute face.
He was also a dem rat with designs on our pocketbook.

If the dems didn't know that it's all about sex appeal they wouldn't be going nuts over the aircraft carrier landing.
Kerry wouldn't be posing in his wet suit and a surfboard and riding a motorcycle.
Sad but true, women ofttimes vote on appearance rather than substance.

No it's women who vote with something other than their intellect.
Don't blame anyone for pointing out that sad fact.
After 8 yrs of slick willie it's obvious to anyone who cares to admit the truth.

Good for you! I know most people here do not like O'Reilly, but he is right about one thing. And President Bush basically said the same thing in his interview yesterday morning. Most people do not like it when someone has strong opinions or makes hard decisions. I ran across this when I was working at DOJ. The government supervisor I had was a typical Washington pinhead government liberal worker spouting the Bush is stupid line. When I told her that her flew fighter jets and graduate with a Harvard MBA, she had nothing to say.

The moment the words were out of Jennngs mouth I knew they were a set up. Sent by the DNC
The Kerry camp is now urging it's followers to infiltrate conservative web sites and spread lies about the president.
We see evidence of that right here on FR and need to send the rats back into their holes rather than welcome their discource here on FR.
