This had to be as bad an interview as has been created. Redundant WMD why isn't Sadamn still in power, gotcha questions down to sewer Rat exit poll who think he should be replaced...right! It had independents, we just won't say how many?? Since the numbers were 70-30 we will just have to guess how many indis??

Like any good Politboro Chief he carries the water of the Communist Party. Pathetic although hopefully W picked up some sypathy votes.

Pray for W and The Truth

all I am doing is referring to demographic and voting trend data on this topic, it has nothing to do with me, or with chauvinism, or anything else. I am not making this up, its been discussed quite a bit. Edwards is referred to as a "pretty boy" all the time, what's that all about, a move to get the gay male vote? give me a break.

this election isn't about with the VAST majority of voters do, its about a fight for a relatively small percentage of voters outside the respective bases for Dems and Rep. its women in that segment, call them "independent women" if you like, that are at issue here.

The majority of "independent women" also do not vote based on attractiveness of the candidate. And if you have evidence that they do, please share. Otherwise, I will assume (as I do) that you are lying your a** off.

how about this quote:

"Other Gender Factors in 2002 Elections

First, all should note the way Mit Romney, candidate for governor of Massachusetts, has explicitly featured his sex appeal in commercials. While one certainly can find examples of male candidates understanding that female voters might find them attractive, the extent to which this advertising campaign is exploiting sex appeals stands as noteworthy. What this means for masculinity in campaigns remains to be seen. Perhaps the standards of attractiveness long applied to women will begin to figure prominently for men as well."

from this article:

http://www.apsanet.org/~elections/duerstlahti.html

How is it that I am a liar, just because I am referring to this trend? it took me all of 30 seconds to find this with google, there are many other articles on this (not written by me obviously).

There is a difference between candidates trying to play up their attractiveness and women voting for them because of it.

No, he's not really hesitant, he's just trying to form his words in his mind before he says them. He's always done that.

who is Mit Romney "featuring his sex appeal" to? gay men?

Let's just let this drop, the only point I was trying to make was that this trend exists, and I must assume the pollsters know this is beneficial to these candidates among women voters.

I'm not saying these candidates aren't trying to attract women. I'm saying it doesn't have anything to do with our decisions.

You are fooling yourself if you think anyone will win the support of females simply because he's "cute." I think John Edwards is cute but he's still a dumbass.

>>>>>>>>>>>

actually as a woman I thought it was a funny remark, got a good giggle from it. Having said that it's not necessisarily 'cuteness' that the women he's talking about will vote for, but for whomever promises to best 'take care' of them.

that in my opinion is what democrat women seem to look for, and what alot of tenderhearted women who are independents look for, then there are those airheads who do actually look for the best rear end or cute face.

some women are sexist and do vote based on looks. (so many women seemed(and still do) to think the ex pres was/is good looking, I've never seen that myself)

"! LET'S bombard the White House with TONS of valentines cards telling W we love him!!!!! "

Postcards would be great. It would save the $$$ and hassle of having to x-ray the envelopes looking for the bad stuff.

**so many women seemed(and still do) to think the ex pres was/is good looking, I've never seen that myself**

Me neither! I always thought he looked rather slimy and the hair was a little too big and the tire around his waist was rather unattractive as well.

**that in my opinion is what democrat women seem to look for, and what alot of tenderhearted women who are independents look for, then there are those airheads who do actually look for the best rear end or cute face**

Also true. I would never try to argue that there aren't any superficial women at all. And I hope that oceanview understood that. Certainly there are superficial women who will be looking at Edwards' rear end and/or face. (I feel an insult coming on but I think I shall refrain.) I'd just hate for anyone to think that the majority of women vote based on who's the cutest. And I believe you are at least somewhat correct in your assessment of the women who vote based on who promises to "take care of them" though I'm sure there are other reasons for some people as well.

It really comes down to this: people choose what they want to believe; whether they hear the truth or not.

I've heard Kerry say he wants to go back to treating terrorists like criminals .. like it was under Clinton.

The guy is so stupid he doesn't know that treating these people like criminals is exactly WHY WE GOT 9-11 ..??

Such comments are reflective of adolescence and generally come from those who are using computers their parents purchased. Forgive me if you are an adult.

I forgive you.

There are some good on-line dictionaries which are just a click away.

Yeah ... typos. I make quite a few of them.

It's a character flaw that i've come to accept. I apologize if it bothers you.

Your pomposity is boring.

Oh come now, I find it incredibly invigorating.

If you don't like what we think/say/post, why do you bother?

Why do I bother to what? Post?

We should all only post if we agree with each other?

My, what a boring community that would be ...

You certainly do not have a way with words to change any minds.

I guess if I was trying to change minds I would be upset. Luckily I wasn't. As it is I was only expressing my personal opinions. Opinions that many people would be afraid to honestly express here. The vocal minority tends to bully some folks around, but I guess that kind of thing has never bothered me. I'll give my opinion knowing i'm going to get torched, because I figure every opinion is as valuable as the next. And schoolyard insults (which account for 99% of the insults I have gotten thus far) have never really done more than provide some passing amusement.

Why should I lie? Plenty of others are saying he did well. I don't need to voice a positive opinion on this.

Okay, well, all I can say is that I am suprised by your opinion ... but I respect it.

You say he did poorly in the first thirty minutes...what do you think of his performance in the second thirty minutes?

Better, but not completely redeeming of the first 30. I think I mentioned this a couple of times.

BTW, I did not say the President answered each of Russert's "attacks" perfectly. I said I thought he more than "held his own."

I thought he acted like a kid with his hand caught in the cookie jar. Not sure I would agree that he held his own, seemed to stammer and be caught off guard a few times ... but, it is what it is. The voters will let themselves be heard ... and i'm sure there will be at least 20 polls this week that will attempt to tell us what most people truly thought. If i'm wrong, so be it. It happens to all of us. Maybe everyone else in the country thought he did brilliantly. If that is the case, it will be born out in the ballot box.

I think Bush is smart enough to realize that not every intellectual skirmish needs to be won.

You mean like learning how to pronounce "Nuclear" correctly? ;-)

This interview wasn't a high school debate in which the President had to win all the points. This was his chance to share his opinions and goals with the American people.

I think he fared very well on that score. And, it seems he is smart enough to know that getting his message across to his "fellow Americans" is the thing that really counts.

Okay. Duly noted. I was disappointed. For some reason I thought he agreed to the interview because he had some kind of smoking gun he was waiting to for the right time to drop. The best we got was "Mr. Kay said he had the capability to develop weapons eventually". Maybe it was a case of getting my hopes up too high.
