[history]
COSTA MESA, Calif. - Rosario Marin, a Mexican immigrant from a blue-collar family, sees herself as the best weapon California Republicans have against incumbent Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer.
She believes her background can diffuse the two-term senator's strategy of portraying her opponents as right-wing extremists.

I really don't know much about most of the candidates, but I did hear Ms.Marin on KSFO the other day. She seemed very bright and fairly conservative, and if I recall correctly, she is against amnesty and illegal DLs. But I don't think she can beat Kaloogian, and we need someone who can unseat Boxer. That's the bottom line.

Marin, 45, calls herself a moderate

Yeah, that word "moderate" really turns me off. Question: do you think that Kaloogian can beat Boxer? I have my absentee ballot here ready to be filled out this weekend.

Question: do you think that Kaloogian can beat Boxer? I have my absentee ballot here ready to be filled out this weekend. Can't answer that question at this time but I have two observations and a suggestion to offer
Kaloogian, or any candidate for that matter, can't win if you don't vote for them.
Votes cast in a primary, for any candidate, are not "wasted".
If you are a political pragmatist, timely information is king. Things change, sometimes dramatically, within the last two weeks of any campaign. Were I voting absentee, I'd hold off for a while, then decide and probably wouldn't turn in my ballot until election day at my regular polling place.

I don't HAVE a polling place! This stupid county decided that the two hundred or so voters in this area weren't enough for a polling place, so we're REQUIRED to vote absentee. Last year I took it down to the county building, handed it over to the elections clerk, and signed a record book. Don't trust the mail here either.
Yeah, I probably will wait a few weeks and see what happens.
Thanks.

I don't HAVE a polling place! If memory serves me correctly an absentee ballot can be deposited in the ballot box on election day at any official polling place statewide.

I tried that and the old lady running it didn't know anything about it. So I took it down town just to be sure. Didn't want her to toss it in her confusion.
LOL!
