It's ridiculous that Kerry was able to successfully paint Weld, the quintessential RINO, as a right-wing extremist.

It isn't surprising that Kerry had to portray Weld as extremely right wing. He had to scare those liberal Mass. voters somehow.

It is ridiculous that it worked, because those people already had seen Weld as governor.

But because those same Mass. voters are often liberal, they're dumb (or biased against Republicans) enough to fall for such crap.

Most of the rest of this country isn't like those people.
