And that was in a game against Canada on Thursday before just 1,500 people.

A game Tuesday in neighboring Guadalajara will determine whether the U.S. under-23 soccer team heads to the Athens Games.

"This is what it is all about," coach Glenn Myernick said. "You are 90 minutes away from being in the Olympics."

No, they aren't all violent, but they are all low class.

We fixed Boston, though. They are saddled with $20MM a year Man Ram and Ricky Davis while we took all their good team players.

Actually South America had great Spanish universities well before we had much progress here in ths "colonies".

(I had 2 ancestors land here in 1620 and some here on the shore too.)

Look at South America now compared to the USA.

Corrupt politicians and bureaucrats, worse now than ever.

I couldn't agree with you more. Your forebearers came to this country legally, as did mine. We are brothers and sisters in the American dream because the legal path was chosen before us and we continue to subscribe to it. Indeed, the issue here is envy by those unwilling to either throw the shackles of oppression from their limbs or escape in legal fashion to a nation that welcomes their intrepidness.

"I am not the one basing my judgement of a whole country on some soccer fans, you are."

I am basing it on knowing the type of person these fans are and knowing illegals and legals. The ones that come to this country legally and earn their citizenship would never do this, inside or outside the US. The illegals might do it if they were in Mexico, but not in the US for fear of reprisals. The ones that pelted the US team in 2002 were most likely 2nd and 3rd generation immigrants, they are the ones that are causing the majority of problems in the US. How can I make that statement? Being one myself and being raised around them.

You don't suppose these judgments could of been made prior to witnessing any soccer fans?

You haven't been to the real immigration threads have you? pfftt...this is nothing

Yes I have, but this thread is illuminating to the animus, hyperbole, and knee jerk logic of the Mexican haters that peruse on FR, IMO.

No, they're low class because they continually elect senators like Kerry and Kennedy and congressmen like Franks.

"The US fans should have chanted back "Alamo, Alamo!"

No, it should have been "San Jacinto, San Jacinto" (where Texas beat back the Mexicans). The Alamo is where our butts got kicked.

I guess you judge people by the behavior of their soccer fans. I don't.

I prefer to judge people by their halftime entertainments.

Bush reportedly said he wasn't doing it for votes but because he thought it was good for the US. Maybe he should ask those of us in the U.S. who vote for him ..what we want...and that our votes aren't necessarily in the bag....

Mexican hater's? You certainly have a DemocRat mentality and logic to take the hateful chant of an entire stadium of bourgoise nationals and spin the episode into Freeper's espousing hate of Mexicans. Aren't you really Maureen Dowd?

When will Bush ever realize that Mexico and Mexicans ARE NOT OUR FRIENDS? They hate our guts! My God, I grew up in Southern California, and left there when I was 28 (I'm in my 50s now), and they hated us back then. I've never known a time when the DIDN'T hate us! And Bush wants to give these anti-American, scummy, turd-worlders amnesty?
