Charles Robb has an ACU Conservative rating of 8 out of 100.
Larry Silberman is a Reagan Appt. to the D.C. Circuit court.
McCain we know, ACU rating 77
Lloyd Cutler is a founder of Wilmer Cutler Pickering LLP. Assisted both Clinton and Carter and the SALT II Treaty.
Adm. Bill Studeman- Deputy Director of CIA under Bush I
Pat Wald- Carter appointee, first woman Judge to be appointed to D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mentioned in David Brock's Blinded by the Right: "
We did not know that D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Larry Silberman was the source of the false information about his colleague, Judge Pat Wald, that showed up in Brock's _The Real Anita Hill_."

Just googled the names, many of which I didn't know. This isn't an attempt at an authoritiative source, just a possible jumping off point for those who know more about this than I...

This has been Bush's achilles heal; appointing people that will turn on him, just like Joseph Wilson. Bush Sr. did the same thing with Souter. Gotta give Clinton credit, he'd never put anyone on a commission that he didn't know the outcome ahead of time (or at least have an FBI file on the person)

McCain we know, ACU rating 77And falling. That number is deceptive. His recent years are all lower than that.

Sad... except for McCain, a bunch of hacks.
Bush would have been better off naming Bill Clinton to head it up. At least with Bill he's such a procrastinator it wouldnt get done until 2005!!!

To be honest, I don't really care about ACU ratings for a panel like this. I care more about if the person is trustworthy with keeping secret data secret, if the person is likely to turn around and try to turn the panel into a partisan witchhunt, and if the person had previously worked to undercut our security agencies.

...the inherent goodness of mankind...
Which doesn't exist. I will do all I can in my corner of the world to help re-elect President Bush. But I do have to say I agree with you about this one aspect of Dubya's nature. He really seems to believe that nonpartisanship or bipartisanship is possible. GWB is just not a natural shark, like Bill Clinton and many other Washington denizens. GWB is too trusting in some ways.
I've got a sinking feeling that the UN may have BS'd the world on Iraqi WMD inspections all these years just so it could keep the oil-for-food gravy train going. If so, there's no way it will ever be proven since Kofi Anann will never open the UN records. In the meantime, there are plenty of two-legged sharks here at home who intend to make a "Bush scandal" out of this come hell or high water. And Robb, Cutler, McCain, et. al. will lead the way.
I am becoming more discouraged by the day lately.
