"Russian diplomacy is clearly attempting to build an anti-American alliance which includes countries like China, North Korea, Cuba, Iraq, Libya, South Africa, Syria, Venezuela, Vietnam, Iran and India."

I disagree with this statement. Russia withdrew their listening post from Cuba some time ago, as a gesture of goodwill to the US, Cuba is suffering, because the Russian funds dried up. This is just one example.

"I disagree with this statement."

You could replace that with "I thought".

Why are you baiting him ?

See I also believe Russia would ally with NK rather than the my daddy can whoop your daddy scenario. I mean they all hate us and 'that' is their only objective.

You can disagree all you want, nobody here has a problem with that.

You are appearently unaware that the SIGINT (Singals Intelligence) site in Torrens (Lourdes) Cuba (near Havana) was NOT SHUT DOWN. It was in operation jamming signals destined for the Islamic Republic of Iran this past summer.

The site is operational and still manned by Cubans and Russians [[[ GRU (military intelligence) FAPSI (the ex-KGB creation known as the Federal Agency for Government Communications) and the Russian SVR (Russian Foreign intelligence Service)]]] and might also be home to Venezuelan and Iranian SIGNALS INTELLIGENCE operators and technicians.

Funny how Russia and Iran and Cuba along with the rest of the usual suspects are constantly being linked together in various endeavors: all of which are anti-US in nature.

Russia gave up a pawn, and took our rook.
Yet as my girlfriend's granddad says [he is as Russian as you can get], "never trust a Russian."

Yet when common sense kicks in, I ask myself, "Why on earth would they attack us when we are destroying ourselves from within??"

In the final analysis, Russia should NEVER be taken for granted as so many in this forum do. Not everyone in the world is as "rational" as we. The threat they pose is as grave as any other. Chess is a complicated game and they are masters at it.

Regardless of what we may think about attack scenarios and probabilities, America can not let her guard down, and on that I think we can all agree.
