Actually, this is a really fun idea.

SPOCK: Conservative, no question. No emotion/controlled emotion means that that he can't be emotionally manipulated, nor is he inclined to do it to others. He makes decisions based on the facts, not what he is 'feeling' about things, and he'll go to the nth degree to find out what the facts actually are.

Additionally, he comes from a planet that has a lot in common with Arizona or Texas.

I think it's fun too.

James T. Kirk--centrist.

Jean Luc Picard--liberal

Spock--libertarian

Batman--Rockerfeller republican

Superman--closet nazi

Sherlock Holmes--Torie

Robin Hood--socialist

Gotta go to work now. Oh well.

I think both James T. Kirk and Jean Luc Picard would not fit the modern Democratic Party.

I know that many on this board think about Jean Luc Picard as too liberal. I disagree.

He is excellent leader. He listens to his officers and gives them freedom to act. He trusts them with his own life. But command is his own and nobody else. He will make unpopular decisions when he thinks he must.

He is known as a diplomat and a peace maker. But not from the position of weakness. He would rather talk than shoot first, but only up to the point. He would use all necessary force, if it is indeed necessary. He might feel terrible about taking life, but he will not hesitate to do it to protect his ship and Federation.

He uses guns as tools. No fetish one way or another. He prefers his phaser to be set on stun, but he killed more enemies than I can remember.

He is very curios about all aliens and tries to find common points even with the most different ones. It is indeed preferable for him to make friends than enemies. Nevertheless, he will stand up to evil and will defend his own with all necessary force. His respect to others is based on respect to our own worth first.

If this is a picture of a Democrat, I want to know a name of this Democrat politician to vote for him. Because I don't think you can find one.

Good points on Jean-Luc Picard. In the first season though, he led by committee, and seemed hesitant. Starting with the second season, he showed a dramatic improvement, and someone taught the screenwriters about military 'command presence'.

Kirk was a bit more direct, with a bullish command style. Very agressive. He'd have been a good street cop, military officer, or CEO. Not too many libs in those lines of work. Not none, but not too many, either.
