Let me make this clearer then.

I want Bush to whip Kerry's carcass all over the country.

I want Bush to give me reasons to be more confident that will happen. Supporting more liberal policies in an election year is not a wise move politically.

is that clearer?

I want Bush to whip Kerry's carcass all over the country. Thats reasonable, and your desire for Bush to give you more reasons to vote for him is reasonable and understandable. I sure don't mind you asking for that. But whatever the results, we can't let them get control of the executive branch back.

We have to do a much better job in the Republican primaries next time and make sure that the nominee meets what we really want. But we only have a stark choice at this moment and it is clear.

Supporting more liberal policies in an election year is not a wise move politically.

First, they aren't THAT liberal. They are what the public wants and expects and as I've already pointed out, what Bush ran on in 2000.

And all Rove and Bush are looking for are 1-2% more in certain demographics. Just 2% more of the black vote will wipe Kerry out. Add that to 5% of Hispanics, 3% of Catholics, 4% of Jewish voters...it adds up pretty fast. Especially in close states. For example, New Hampshire. Bush won by 7,000 in 2000 but Nader got about 22,000. Nader isn't going to run again so Bush needs 14,000 to compete. He's going to do well among white males and married females so he can make them up. But in other places like NM or Iowa where he lost in 2000, those small percentages gives him a win in 2004. And it's all about the electoral college, not the popular vote.
