STATEMENT BY PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH ON THE MA SUPREME COURT RULING APPROVING GAY MARRIAGE
The White House ^ | February 4, 2004 | President George W. Bush

STATEMENT BY THE PRESIDENT

Today's ruling of the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court is deeply troubling. Marriage is a sacred institution between a man and a woman. If activist judges insist on re-defining marriage by court order, the only alternative will be the constitutional process. We must do what is legally necessary to defend the sanctity of marriage.

If you want govt. out of marriage then we need to repeal any benefits given by govt. to married couples.

I think you're getting the gist, but the other option is to allow people to select their marriage partner and give them a license. You see some of the taxpayers have sex with people of the same gender.

Does anyone here think Pres. Bush wants an amendment to ban gay marriage in all of the fifty states, or only to keep it contained to the states that either adopt it, or whose Supreme Courts mandate it? In other words, does anyone here think Bush is advocating telling state governments how they can choose to define marriage within their own borders?

Yes.

In the face of judicial tyranny there are only two options.

In a free republic the rights of the majority cannot outweigh the rights of the minority.

When people fight for rights I don't think they much care how they get them. Some even do it at the barrel of a gun, perhaps you've read about it.

Hardly, I have kept my arguments about homosexuality non religious. The only exception being the trolls who bring up "christianity".

Don't like it, then join Kazinski in his cabin.

What is needed is the reigning in of Supreme Courts. They have taken the word "supreme" too literally. They are NOT supreme and cannot be allowed to make law affecting our traditions and culture
against the will of millions of people. What can the other two branches do to reign them in. I don't know of anything other than impeachment .

This action by a state supreme court and the fact that the Dems have obstructed the appointment of strict constitutional judges, plus Kerry's statement about a litmus test for judges he would appoint--i.e. they must be pro-abortion should sway any of the petulant conservatives that don't think Bush is conservative enough.

This country is going down quickly. Let us fight for it as long as we can to slow the process.

Reminds me of the Old Testament history of Israel and judah. After they wanted to be like all the other countries and have a king, God gave them one and they started downhill from there. in the last days, a good king would come along and follow God and the law and they would get a few years of reprieve. Ultimately, however, they went down, and we all know "the rest of the story."

Yep. Facist litigation. The 2% of the population dictates to the 98%. You WILL obey !
Vote on it? Let the American people decide what they want marrage to be? How absurd! This is the U.S.S.A. We don't let people decide here.

Which is why homosexuals don't want public votes on their special rights ordinances.

Human Rights Coalition is already lining up the Full Faith and Credit cases for the other states. Most likely out of the 9th.

You lost me here. Where does it say dysfunctional sex fetishes MUST be accepted as normal in the Constitution? Right above "You will have sex with car tires?"
These people belong in mental institutions, not on the street. I can't believe you're actually supporting their vile behavior. No, they're not "just like us." They mentally ill.
