WASHINGTON - [California] State Sen. Rico Oller has gone on the attack against former state attorney general Dan Lungren for his record on immigration in a mailer to 3rd District voters that Lungren hotly condemned Wednesday as "misleading and racial stereotyping."

Oller opposes President Bush's immigration proposal that includes a guest worker program. Lungren has endorsed the Bush proposal, saying a guest worker program is vital for the government to enforce sanctions against employers hiring illegal aliens that were contained in the 1986 law.

Rico Oller is the only conservative in this race. Lungren is carpet bagging opportunist from Los Angeles.
I get to vote on this one, and I'm voting for Senator Rico Oller!

What's the problem? Oller is correctly poiting out that Reagan and Lungren BOTH supported an amnesty in '86, a mistake for both men. Now Lungren is trying to claim otherwise and using Reagan as a shield. And as for equating illegal aliens to terrorists, this from the Democrats themselves (page 6):

Lungren is carpet bagging opportunist from Los Angeles. Yeah! And don't you dare send him back!
(And Rico was one of the brave few to back McClintock over Mr S!)

Let us hope that the voters turn out and reward Oller for trying to do something about a terrible problem, that will soon, indeed, undermine the continuity of our heritage.

In an interview Wednesday, Lungren said the circular referred to legislation he helped usher through the House and into law in 1986 at the behest of President Reagan. At the time, Lungren was the ranking Republican on the immigration subcommittee in the Democrat-controlled chamber. While Lungren backed the measure at one point in the legislative process, when it included a provision granting legal status to foreign farm workers, Congressional Quarterly reports on the debate said that Lungren opposed the blanket amnesty clause and fought to excise it from the final bill that Reagan signed into law. "I rejected blanket amnesty and to state otherwise is to declare both me and Ronald Reagan liars," Lungren charged.
Yet more evidence that the Reagan Amnesty wasn't a "blanket Amnesty.

Take the Reagan Amnesty Pop Quiz!
Same as the Bush Amnesty. Problem is, they're both Amnesties. Worse yet, Lungren said, is the way Oller links illegal immigrants to terrorism. "The depiction of obviously Hispanic people coming over the border is contained in the turban of a Taliban guerrilla," he said. "This is degrading to Hispanics and anyone who wears a turban. ... This is absolutely the kind of nonsense that not only gives our party a bad name, but it appeals to the worst instincts of people."
This is the backstabbing crap we've been getting from pro-Amnesty Republicans for years, as their excuse for doing nothing to stop Illegal Aliens.

Interesting. I'm not sensing a broad base of support for Lungren in the freeper community. Why's that? Isn't he a pro-life conservative?

His miserable campaign in 1998 created the five-year fiasco that was the Davis Administration. Nuff said?

"misleading and racial stereotyping." I expect this type of ignorant statement from the general public and have even encountered it on this form but when it comes from the mouth a person who supposedly has enough education and common sense to think he would be a representative of the people there is trouble brewing.
Lungren could kiss his you know what goodbye if I resided in his district, which I don't. I'm simply left to point out to others his ignorance and arrogance.

Lungren is a gun grabber.
I don't trust anyone who is anti-2A.
'nuff said.
