[history]
Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will appear at a New York City fund-raiser this month asking political heavy hitters in the nation's banking and finance capital to donate as much as a whopping $500,000 each to his campaign to sell Californians on a $15 billion bond proposal.

"I have the advantage that I am going to Sacramento without any baggage, I haven't made any deals with anyone, I haven't sold out to any special interest groups, I am not taking any money from anyone. " ---Arnold Schwarzenegger, Economic Recovery Council, press conference - 8/20/03
What a difference a few months can make.

The first thing that strikes me is "is this legal". Obviously or Schwarzenegger wouldn't be doing it.
The next thing is "is it ethical". Not!
I hope more than a few are troubled by Schwarzenegger's obviously skewed sense that somehow New Yorker's ought to be directly influencing California's political process.
The more I know about Schwarzenegger, the more firmly convinced I am that I don't want anything to do with this "bad actor".

Arnold is setting himself up for a "Oracle" debacle like Davis let happen...

Voters haven't seen the State Legislature act like we're staring in the face of a fiscal meltdown in California. The Democrats' main preoccupation seems to be whether sports teams here can still be called "Redskins." Here the libs live in a parallel universe...

What makes you think Schwartzenegger wouldn't do it if it weren't legal? It doesn't seem to bother him if something is legal or not -- he'll just say he's sorry thank the court when they tell him it is illegal.
I am as troubled as you are. Also, what happened to his "sunshine policy"? Apparently it applies to everyone but himself.
