I repeat, while Cyanide salts are a common industrial compound, the fact that our troops found it in an Iraqi safe house of Al Qaeda's poisons expert is significant.

your thoughts? does this qualify for wmd? I don't know if a "salt lick" qualifies...
To: grimalkin
No WMD here, only a cyanide block in ever home. Forget about chickens in every pot.

Cyanide salts are used in hundreds of manufacturing processes. And poison specialists are common advisors in many manufacturing processes who need big blocks of poison for demonstration purposes.

Now, if it had been aimed at San Fran, THAT would shut them up No it wouldn't. We would first have to blame ourselves that we were wrong to make them angry, we would have to grovel to the UN for help and we would have to disarm ourselves to make it fair.

Yes, I recall working with it to temper brake components on one of my first "adult" jobs. I was 17. 3rd rate shop whose safety equipment seemed to "mysteriously" get a lot better just before an OSHA audit, and then disappear shortly thereafter. Even after several rinses, there was enough residue on the parts to sting your bare skin. I shudder when I remember that job.

I don't think it is the amount of "cyanide" that was found nor is it the form it was found in.
I think the problem is who has the "cyanide." Zarqawi is not reasonable... his motives are not reasonable...therefore, his purpose for having the cynide is not reasonable... but threatening.

i'm thinkin that the US is going to find oodles of wmd while the "What happened to wmd intelligence?" commission is studying the problem I don't know about oodles, but they will find WMD's.

Nope. GWB could parachute into Pakistan, personally kill UBL, bring back his dismembered head and Fat Ted would still deny Bush his due. It's not about what Bush does, it's about who he is. Every once in a while, I run across a succinct 'sniper's shot' of wisdom; straight to the point, and deadly accurate.
This is one of them.

I worked with a cowboy geologist once who told me about a bootstrap gold mill he ran in northern Mexico '79-81.
He used cyanide to separate the gold from the ore. The plant had a wastewater leak that flowed into a stream. For a good 300 yards downstream of where the leak entered the stream he said the banks were littered with dead birds and small animals that drank the streamwater.

Forget the WMDs ok. The part about removing Saddam is fine. He would have been a problem with the oil $$ about to pour into that neck of the woods.
This is about bringing 11% of the world's proven reserves online. Period. Saddam was in the way and an enemy of America.

".... Zarqawi was described as a poisons expert with strong ties to the former Iraqi regime and the terrorist groups Al Qaeda and Ansar al-Islam. A Palestinian born in Jordan who fought in Afghanistan more than a decade ago, Zarqawi returned to Afghanistan in 2000 to oversee terrorist training camps, Powell told the Security Council. .... A Jordanian.............there are no Palistinians.
