Ok everyone, I'm sorry. I made a technical glitch and have had to repost this...but I'm posting all your comments. Let's start again. I think this is a great article Patrick and like it or not we have to face the facts...I agree with you. Now what's the best way to get BUSH'S ATENTION!

To: abigail2 The folks at the BOND foundation are some great folks with a lot of sense. I think they would do well to join forces with some of the traditionally white conservative groups to make thier voices heard a little louder.

To: abigail2 I’m sorry to say our political parties too often do not represent the interests of the average American. This is the hard truth. Patrick is right, we cannot just rubber-stamp everything any administration proposes. We also cannot continue to support this human invasion that is coming over the border, and our government cannot continue to ignore it. People are really getting angry and might decide to sit this one out unless some good news about this defacto amnesty will be forthcoming.

To: abigail2 To act out of our resentments instead of our reason would be disastrous. So well put. A very well written article that is attuned to the political realities that are swirling around out in the country right now. Hope lots of folks are listening.

To: abigail2 All this whining about Pres Bush is getting tired. People will have a choice when they vote. Most likely , it will be between Pres Bush and kerry. Vote for whoever you think will do the best job. The notion that you have to like everything your candidate does or even says is looney. Moreover, if someone decides not to vote, they have no business yapping about anything at all.

To: abigail2 It will be interesting to see what (if anything) comes out of Congress on this; like the sunsetting of the egregious '94 AW ban, anything that grants amnesty (or pseudoamnesty) to millions of illegal lawbreakers, will not sit well with the Repubos conservative voter base. I don't think Congressional Republicans (at least most of them) are so stupid as to send along such legislation to Pres Bush BEFORE the '04 election.

To: abigail2 Thanks for the ping, abigal. One of the things that has always irritated me the most about this immigration mess is the usual absence of any legitimate political debate. I think that the Democratic politicians who support illegal immigration do so in order to bolster their ranks. I think that the Republican politicians who support illegal immigration do so in order to increase the supply of labor and to thereby reduce wages on behalf of employers. Neither side, though, feels comfortable expressly articulating their support for illegal immigration or the real motives for supporting it. As a result, there has been a quiet failure on the part of our government to discourage illegal immigration and there is an unwillingness on the part of both parties to reverse the damage. Like I say, I think what really frustrates a lot of people about this issue is the absence of any open, honest debate about it among our leaders.

To: cripplecreek They do. They are well known among illegal immigration, abortion and various other groups...but they lurk here. So let em know. Meanwhile, each one of us is going to have to raise a big stink if we are going to stem the flood of America hating infidels.

And I think Patrick is trying to say, DON'T GET MAD AND DO SOMETHING WE'LL REGRET! (so that later when our country is a total sodom and gommorah, you will have the satisfaction of saying 'I told you so!) ACT NOW!!

To: EternalVigilance We've all got to make them listen. You might try emailing a link to this article to all your friends who complain about the illegal invasion, but do nothing.

To: paul51 That's all very good and fine. But maybe you don't fully understand the gravity of the invasion, planned and executed by thugs and bullies and America haters. Maybe you haven't connected the dots between the violent crimes committed almost totally by illegals; the drugs and crime they have brought into the country and the fact that most jobs require you to be bi-lingual now!

To: Scenic Sounds One of the things that has always irritated me the most about this immigration mess is the usual absence of any legitimate political debate. I agree! But it's up to us to force them to talk about it. Every political campaign we attend, every chance we get, get in their face.

The American public has always been against legalizing illegals. When polled they’ve also shown solid support for militarizing the borders. The president knows this, and yet is determined to go against the law and the people anyway. Why?

Excellent question.

it is becoming increasingly clear that Republicans too often are also doing the bidding of ethnic groups and big business interests.

And there's the answer.

How about loving the sin; hating the sinner.

That way you can enjoy yoursdelf to the fullest and then blame it on your ex.

Paul, your post gives the impression that you believe voters should just go to the polls once every couple of years and then shut up and take whatever our elected leaders dish out in the interim. This "whining about Pres Bush" you decry is being done in large part by folks who supported his narrow election in '00 and would like to feel good enough about his performance to enthusiastically support his reelection in '04. IMHO, this is Constructive Criticism and is to be applauded, not derided.

Do decent Americans really want to stay away from the polls, and on election night watch the triumph of a liberal pro-tax, pro-abortion, soft-on-terrorism extremist?

A lot of conservatives propose this exact course of action, right here on Free Republic.
