Free Republic is a family oriented forum, or at least we try to be classier than your normal everyday run of the mill, slap 'em together forum. We have seen a significant increase in the amount of risqué comments and graphics being posted lately. Please tone it back a notch or two. The 'aw not this **** again' graphic and bared breasts are inappropriate. Let’s remember, we’re Free Republic, not some wanna be site, and certainly, we’re not some liberal chat site. Let’s keep our standards high. Strive for excellence. For the most part, we are educated, responsible adults. A simple comment to that effect will suffice. We don't need to see F*** or s***. The English language is a great tool; learn to use it. It really lowers your credibility as a poster when you resort to profanity and flames. It takes finesse to make your point without using these tactics.

Again, there are way to many vanities. We don’t need your one thought as an individual thread. Post it on a related thread. Also, you all might want to curb your super bowl outrage. It’s starting to get out of control, (see above). Please, use restraint. We don’t really need to see ‘the picture’ again, or a graphic description of the event.

And, please search, too many duplicates lately, use the original title to prevent duplicates and provide a link when you can. Lastly, there has been a significant increase in trolls (hugh and series). Several of you have freepmailed us with troll abuse via freepmail. Let us know if via abuse reports you receive anything like this, likewise on your state boards.

One thing I've learned over the years as a poster is, does this article advance conservativism? How will this story remove liberal X from office or add a nail in his coffin? If I can't answer that, I don't post it. That's just my personal 'line in the sand' thing, and IMO the basis for FR.

IMO, and this is as a poster and not a mod, people feel that our morality is slipping away daily, and the super bowl was a catylistic example of this happening. You wouldn't have seen a breast in 1963. Rob and Laura were still in twin beds.

Moderators don't get paid a cent. We do this strictly to help Jim out. It's a running joke with the moderators about our pay, and the fact Darryl got a 100% increase... etc, etc. Jim will get a kick out of it.

Why not put a number behind the Admin Moderator like they do on cars at Nascar? Admin Moderator3, for instance. That way, folks would have a clue as to the 'driver' that's been drafting them, and about to pass.

Anything to dispell a sterile, robot-nazi image would be a relief. And how about a 'badge' graphic with each of your posts (like the Dragnet badge) just for snicks. C'mon, let's liven' up the place a little, what do ya say? Being a conservative doesn't have to mean, "I was stuffy, when stuffy wasn't cool".

Not only that, but I didn't hear one comment on the teams, incensed about being upstaged, playing the entire second half wearing only jocks and shoulder pads and nobody even noticed. The glint of the pasty must've blinded everyone for a while.

Thanks, but all of this evolved. A couple years ago, Jim didn't have moderators and went on an extended trip. All hell broke loose around here. Several of his buddies on FR told Jim to get some help. So, with the help of a couple good FR pals, Jim got 9 of us together to help him. Now there are 11 of us. But, ask any oldtimer about how things were before moderators with respect to trolling and obscene posts. We've had our 'growing' phase, and now, we're pretty much settled in. Jim reviews all our actions, and has on occasion overriden our decisions. We call that the 'swoop'. It's his forum, we're here to help, but every action we do is monitered by Jim. And Jim is the final answer.

FR is a great bunch of people. Mostly, we're honest and trustworthy and believe what people say. Welcome aboard!
