Amen. I've been to conservative Muslim countries, as the representative of a pro-family NGO. They know I am religious, and that I have raised six religious children. They know that traditional Christian values of chastity are the same as their own. The people with whom I've met are the society's leaders. They are well to do, and they have satellite dishes, bringing them American television and movies. The question I was asked in meeting after meeting, by men and women alike:

"How do you raise decent children, when they are bombarded with the stuff we see on our satellite dishes."

They are genuinely concerned for their children and grandchildren, as I am concerned for mine. They are not disposed to be sympathetic to terrorists. But the spiraling depravity, family dissolution, and complete amorality that is marking our culture scares them to death.

Good post. Here's an interesting story for you . . .

When the Islamic revolutionaries overthrew the Shah of Iran in 1979, the U.S. embassy was actually the second building they occupied. The first building they sacked was the Tehran offices of the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

Kind of puts things in a different perspective, doesn't it?
