[history]
Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Powell yesterday ordered an investigation of the Super Bowl halftime show, in which Justin Timberlake tore off part of fellow singer Janet Jackson's costume, exposing her breast.
"I am outraged at what I saw during the halftime show," Mr. Powell said. "Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration. Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt."

You know the more outraged you are about the Super Bowl antics, the happier the Left feels. Their sole purpose in life is to shock. However, this time they did not shock. We are no longer shocked. They crossed over the line of family deciency and invaded our homes.

TiVo, which allows digital recording of live TV, announced yesterday that it had measured a viewership spike of 180 percent immediately after the incident. They must have been making certain their outrage wasn't misplaced....

I'd love to see some severe sanctions against everyone involved in this sorry episode... to the fullest extent of the law!

They crossed over the line of family deciency and invaded our homes. That is the real issue. I still find it incredible that anyone with the slightest bit of sense would pull a stunt like this while the entire nation was watching.

I'd love to see some severe sanctions against everyone involved in this sorry episode..I'd like to see the no talent, scrawny "Justin the Ripper" disappear and plastic Janet Jackasson do the same.

Maybe the pendulum will kindly swing back to decency and calm, but if not, some year down the road, it won't just be a breast exposed, it will be pubes. (can I say that?)
BTW, why didn't someone put their foot down when Michael Jackson started grabbing himself years ago? I thought that was ridiculous, and not to be part of our entertainment.

That is why the Left HATES GWB. He and a lot of us are kicking a leg out from under their stool. They have gotten away with it for too long.

MTV is a sewer. I long for the day when I can pay my satellite provider for the channels I want to see - and not pay for the garbage they want to sling at me.

We are not shocked at all, and the likes of these people think that all Americans have gone to hell already, and that we will not mind a bit about their low moral behavior.

During months of planning and extensive rehearsals attended by CBS executives and members of the NFL's special-events department,So, the NFL and CBS both knew the lyrics and the gyrations that were happening, they claim they didn't know about the tearaway. What's family oriented about the lyrics and strutting?

FCC officials declined to speculate on any penalties that could be levied on CBS and MTV. The current FCC fine for broadcasting indecent material is $27,500 per incident. If Congress passes legislation to increase that figure by 10X, as (I think) a current bill proposes - and if each incident of indecency is given the maximum fine (there were several beyond Janet's "wardrobe malfunction") - and if each station is then assessed that fine - maybe then CBS will get the message.
I can't say I'm too hopeful.

The following are Viacom owned companies. A conservative parent's worst nightmare.
Remember Simon & Schuster who paid Hillary $8 million for her book & CBS did that lovely hatchet job on President Reagan with Mr. Streisand. |
It all makes sense. |

I'm a bit miffed by Bush's statement. If you're fielding questions re this stink, have the courage to make a statement. Saying "dunno I was asleep" is almost as bad as "but I didn't inhale"
As for Viacom, the NFL needs to come out with a press release stating that Viacom will never again be entrusted with any NFL venue. Hit them where it hurts.

Face it, there are people out there like Janet Jackass and Jason Timberlout who would do anything to hype their careers, even at the expense of shocked parents and innocent children. To these self-absorbed lowlifes, it's all about "me, me, me." The rest of us just have to take it or be labeled religious fanatics.

Half time has become so tacky and sleazy I never watch it. Remember when half time was the wonderful marching band and it's performance? Gad, that shows how old I am. ROFL!

I was so happy that my nine-year-old was taking a shower during half-time and missed the whole half-time show. Of course it was the main topic of conversation among kids at her elementary school the next day. I was screaming at the TV, with nonstop expression of outrage to my husband. I could not believe how disgusting the whole show was.
I actually commented at the time that the breast was one of the least offensive parts. My daughter has seen breasts in National Geographic and this, although lewd and disgusting, wasn't nearly as bad as the preceding events. Far more disgusting were Janet and Justin's gyrating simulated sex and one of the rappers grabbing his crotch. The most disgusting of all was Kid Rock wearing the flag. I bet there were many veterans and other lovers of our flag in the audience who were being held back by friends and family from rushing the stage and giving Kid Rock what was coming to him.
CBS can't pretend they didn't know Kid Rock was going to wear our flag.
The only thing that made me happy was finding out the next day that I wasn't the only one who felt this way. My worst nightmare was that the whole thing would go through with little comment and then I would know the fall of civilization was inevitable. I am rejoicing that people are finally standing up and saying we've had enough.

It won't be long before someone attempts to turn this into a race issue.
