MTV Boasts Janet Afterwards: "Janet Gets Nasty!"
Washington Post ^
Posted on 02/02/2004 12:32:10 PM PST by GulliverSwift
A network insider insisted that nothing like last night's bodice-ripping had happened during rehearsals, which were closely watched by CBS suits to make sure there was no hanky-panky, except of course the simulated-sex dance. "That's why the rehearsals were so closely watched," the CBS insider said.
But while CBS was protesting its ignorance and innocence, MTV -- both are owned by Viacom, remember -- was still bragging about it as of midnight.
"Janet Gets Nasty!" MTV crowed on its Web site.
"Janet Jackson got nasty at the MTV-produced Super Bowl Halftime Show," the cable network boasted.
"Jaws across the country hit the carpet at exactly the same time. You know what we're talking about . . . Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a kinky finale that rocked the Super Bowl to its core," the network enthused.
"MTV was Super Bowl central, so armchair quarterbacks, fair weather fanatics and fans of Janet Jackson and her pasties were definitely in the right place."
MTV's Web coverage goes on to say that "the organizers of the Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show had hoped that a surprise guest would get people talking long after the game, but they wound up with one more surprise than they had bargained for."
Bad boy Timberlake, however, apparently reconsidered the play -- maybe he got worried that CBS would uninvite him from performing at next Sunday's Grammy Awards. Timberlake said he did not intend to expose Jackson's breast, calling it a "wardrobe malfunction."
The NFL did not share MTV's enthusiasm for the halftime surprise, saying in a statement that "it's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

This is from the Washington Posterier, so I could only post excerpts from the article. You can read the whole thing.

I guess Janet got enough boost in career from the magazine cover of her naked with a guys hands over her breasts that she thought this would be a career booster too.
I hope it fails miserably.

Michael might try the same tactic as his sister. "So that's how you get young boys to be interested in you?"

To be sure, I am no shrink. However, I admit to speculation that Ms. Jackson was (consciously or unconsiously) enabling her other dysfunctional sibling (Michael) when she did this. In an attempt to distract people away from him, she displays her own illness. Frankly, I think the entire Jackson family should be in therapy.

I haven't read the article but my opinion on her performance is that it smacked of decadence much like that of the 20s Germany highly erotic; whips and chains, angry, tasteless and thoroughly disgusting. Hardly the fare for family, more something you would see in some smoky cabaret - Inappropriate for the Super Bowl centerpiece entertainment the Super Bowl half time has turned into a PigsSty. Inappropriate period.

Let's carefully review the facts in the "Janet" affair:
1. MTV IS NOT CUTTING-EDGE - Period.
2. jUSTIN TIMBERLAKE IS TO MASCULINITY WHAT VELVEETA IS TO CHEESE - This guy is about as "dangerous" as my Aunt Tillie. He is so fem, in fact, that he would possibly benefit from being prison-gang raped, both in terms of personality and appearance.
3. PAUL TAGLIABUE IS NOT A FOOTBALL GUY - If he was, he wouldn't be allowing this Disney/MTV/Nike Ad/Broadway Show abortion of a sporting event to go out over the airwaves.
4. WOMEN GIVING THEIR FOOTBALL INSIGHT IS NOT FOOTBALL. Period.

That face of hers looks faintly familiar, yet darker. Where have I seen a freak who looks and acts like that?

The biggest shock from this is that Justin is actually straight.

Well, I don't know. It's possibly he was reluctantly following orders from on high at MTV (or on low).

Someone should tell MTV and Ms. Jackson that having breasts is not something that is unique to her, and that you'd have to be a pretty desperate loser to think hers are anything special. It was about as enticing and interesting as a fart in a church.

The incident was planned from the onset. Take a look at the closeup of the offending mammary on Drudge. There is one snap fastner on the garment to the right of her breast and possibly a second below. So the garment appears to have been fabricated with the ability to have the cup removed. Is that standard on such garments, especially those expensive handmade ones intended to be danced in?? Hmmmm. While Ms. Jackson is, of course, entitled to have her nipple pierced (thats how the starburst is held on), isn't it interesting that she chose to wear that particular device when no one would see it unless she lost...but they claim it wasn't intended. Let's see, what's missing...a Michael Jackson smirk??

True, and the same goes for Britney and Christina and Madonna regarding their navels and breasts. I see better looking women - grown up women - at the mall, any day of the week.

You mean to tell me that you don't believe every woman enjoys wearing uncomfortable metal spiky things on their boobs all the time? Why, I never leave home without mine....

And so, when is NOW going to issue a press release condemning this? At the least..after Justin faked "ripping" off her top, Janet could have faked being indignant by slapping him up side of the face...That's what I would have done if someone laid even a hand in that most inappropriate place..
