FCC's Powell 'Outraged' by 'Deplorable' Halftime Stunt

The Federal Communications Commission will investigate CBS's sleazy halftime show, Chairman Michael Powell said today.

"I am outraged at what I saw during the halftime show of the Super Bowl. Like millions of Americans, my family and I gathered around the television for a celebration. Instead, that celebration was tainted by a classless, crass and deplorable stunt. Our nation's children, parents and citizens deserve better," Powell stated.

"I have instructed the commission to open an immediate investigation into last night's broadcast," he said.

A spokesman had earlier merely said the agency was launching a routine investigation because it had received complaints.

"CBS deeply regrets the incident," a mouthpiece claimed.

'Wardrobe Malfunction'

Pop star Justin Timberlake insisted he had not intended to expose Janet Jackson's breast.

"I am sorry that anyone was offended by the wardrobe malfunction during the halftime performance of the Super Bowl," he said in a statement. "It was not intentional and is regrettable."

MTV, which like CBS is a subsidiary of Viacom, the same corporate behemoth that aired "The Reagans" on Showtime, claimed the stunt was "unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance."

They uncovered her breast to cover up her lack of talent.

The has-been Janet Jackson was desperate (as someone else described her on another threat) and frantic about getting her name in the media. What trash! We were so disgusted with her performance we didn't watch the second half and missed an exciting game.

You should hear what Rush is saying about all this. He's saying it is cheap stunts that are seen all the time nowadays, and wonders why the FCC is gonna make a deal out of this. He is offended by this stuff showing up on football shows like the Super Bowl though. Letting MTV handle this was a moronic move.

Why not, she'll never use it for its intended purpose anyway.

They're liars. The MTV people are liars. It's that easy. They celebrate the gutter, live for the underbelly, wallow in endless 14 years old snickers, and wonder why no one believes them. MTV lacks the wit to know it how silly it's looks.

The rest of that halftime show was such a study in aesthetic taste. It's a shame mean, old Justin Timberlake had to ruin it all.

My elder children see my wife's breast every time she feeds our infant son. what on earth is the big deal with Americans and breasts?

Yeah, and if I had a son, we'd probably pee in the woods together. Want us to do that during the halftime show?

They should have held Toby and Willie over for half-time, their short pregame show was about 1000% better. Just plain pickin' and singin' with no stunts or fancy stage props.

Ain't that the truth.

My 6 year old daughter loves Toby Keith, singing and dancing (in that order). Of course she was doing the hip-hop dance during the halftime show. As soon as I observed the tone of the show, I ushered her out of the room. I didn't appreciate CBS, MTV, Janet 'Ho, Justin Scum and all by putting me in the position of having to explain that stunt to my kids.

I don't think there was a breastfeeding going on during the half-time show. And your wife doesn't have a piercing going thru her nipple.

The people that ought to REALLY be offended are the NE Pat's players. Is anyone talking about the game today? Nope, just Janet Jackson's boob shot.

Heard about this but didn't see it. CBS like Dan Rather cannot be trusted if after they assured the NFL authorities that something as disgraceful like this wouldn't occur. Reminds a person the time that Roseanne grabbed her crotch during the singing of the national anthem. H'weirdos are so use to exposing themselves at various functions on the way up the ladder plus once they've reached the top maintain the attitude "I'm a popular star and I can do anything I want" that they've forgotten what good taste is all about.

Hi Everyone. I'm new here so I hope I do this right. No one has mentioned the Kid Rock song. I missed the Janet Jackson thing but his song was just as offensive.

Absolutely, the entire show was an embarrassment. The rest of the world must have gotten a good giggle.

I actually didn't know that. My sample size consisted of her rather enjoyable rendition of The National Anthem.

I didn't see the halftime show -- was Janet Jackson breast feeding when this happened?

Does your wife breast feed in front of 100 million strangers?

Your elder children see your wife's breast every time she feeds your infant son? What do you do, schedule the event and force them to watch?
