In the dog-eat-dog world of creating great Super Bowl spots, Anheuser-Busch has once again made the rest of the marketing giants roll over.

A Clydesdale-wannabe donkey finished third for Anheuser-Busch, followed by another A-B ad featuring a gas-passing horse that spoils a sleigh-ride date.

but who gets carded for Pepsi?

Someone who writes a check for it. The bear had written a check.

The cashier was IDing him for a check, not the Pepsi..

Ok now I get it. I never use a check to buy groceries, that's why it went over my head. I always got carded buying beer well into my 20's.

Most of the ada were stupid, filthy,, foolish or just mirroring the disgusting "dumbing down of America".

I agree, especially if you were watching with an 8 year old.

Remember when the donkey answered the question of why he wanted to be a Clydesdale?

I thought the donkey sounded like Howard Dean (the scream)!

Hey! Donkey = Howard Dean -- makes sense!

Am I missing it, or is the MoveOn.org ad not mentioned in either the article or the list of ads below it? It was definitely on the broadcast.

especially if you were watching with an 8 year old.I feel sorry for you, really!

I was seldom more embarrassed for this country than watching the majority of those ads and that wasted halftime show.

Hollywood and the Entertainment business is the worst enemy of this country. I have been saying this for years. And when I got specific about this and the "cabal" of the owners, directors, and producers of the companies creating this filth, I got in alot of trouble.

So, I won't get specific, because I don't want to be suspended or whatever. But these people must be stopped, or preferably, they must stop themselves. Because they are single-handedly destroying the fabric of this country, and creating an image abroad that helps to make our country hated and vilified.

They are ruining the children, and at the same time making world politics a little more difficult. It is a critical time in human history for these few people to stop the insanity that they are creating.

The ads mirrored the quality content of the half-time show.

I'd be willing to bet that the referee ad was rated much higher by men than by women, if my wife's reaction to my howls was any indication.

The AOL commercials were totally funny, but if you aren't a fan of the TV show, you may not get it it all.

We've watched that show since it first started. It's even better since they feature Mikey more. Paul Sr and Jr fight a lot but they love each other.

Did you see the POW/MIA bike? Awesome. It will be featured In the June issue of Hot Rod Bike

Then I missed it - I don't recall seeing it by any stretch.

Most of commercials and the halftime show were needlessly crude and tasteless. Interesting that this is the image the advertisers and MTV wanted to portray to one of the largest viewing audiences available. Paying millions of dollars to broadcast messages on nudity, male impotency, beastiality, crotch humor and scatology in primetime shows how low the networks and advertizers have fallen.

I got a kick out of crude humor in highschool and at the college fraternity house, and it's still fun, under the circumstances, such as around a bunch of men.

But I am offended by crude humor under inappropriate circumstances, such as prime time television--including the Superbowl.

I didn't think the commercials about the flatulent horse or the dog that bites the man in the crotch, for that matter, were funny, cute, or amusing. They were tasteless.

I liked the Pepsi commercial about the bears and the A-B commercial about the donkey.

I really love your tagline, IOTN, but I think I'd leave out the "on this earth" part. It's a great one.

Anheuser-Busch flexed its marketing muscle to claim six of Ad Meter's top 10. Several of its ads had an almost frat-house overtone that included bathroom humor.

I thought most of them were lewd and crude. The best ones were the AOL ones with the "American Choppers" boys because that show is the best show on TV.

The AOL commercials were totally funny, but if you aren't a fan of the TV show, you may not get it it all.

Those were excellent. They really captured the feel of the show. Mikey is a hoot and brought some much needed comic relief into the show.

Did you see the Christmas episode where Mikey went and cut the tree down and put up picture of Senior with a little halo on top of his head? Totally cracked me up.

"Then I missed it - I don't recall seeing it by any stretch."

The MoveOn.org ad was most certainly NOT in the national broadcast. It is possible that move-on got an affiliate or two to run it in the local break that falls at the end of each quarter. But it wasn't on the net.
