HOUSTON, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The tearing of Janet Jackson's costume was unrehearsed, unplanned, completely unintentional and was inconsistent with assurances we had about the content of the performance.
MTV regrets this incident occurred and we apologize to anyone who was offended by it.

Watching the SB with some buddies, one said that after viewing the halftime show he was ready to sign-up with al Qaeda.

If it was unplanned, then I think Mr. Timberlake should be charged with sexual assault on poor, innocent Janet Jackson. Maybe Janet should sue Timberlake,MTV,CBS ,the NFL and all Americans who watched and did not stop the violence.
Janet dear...you can't have it both ways: either you sue or be penalized for indecent exposure...
To: Bush Cheney
MTV is ruining America. Apparently they think this was "cool". I have been observing and saying this for years.

Would someone please tell me what good(other than for our own souls)not watching TV or certain programs does? I don't care, one way or the other.
I do know that about a month ago I was asked by Nielsen to keep a diary of my TV watching for a week, which I did.
I am sure the two hourly programs I did watch that week had some effect on their purpose for asking people to do that.
If it never happens again, it wouldn't matter to me. I know that the crap on TV, regular and cable, is watched by fewer and fewer adults all the time due to the nature of the subject they constantly present.

Who deal with families more than this company. Here is what their spokesman said about Justin Timberlake doing McDonald's commercials.
Justin Timberlake is perfect for the McDonalds brand and our im lovin it campaign, which is all about connecting with our customers in fresh, modern, relevant ways, said Larry Light, McDonalds Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer. As one of musics hottest young stars, Justin Timberlake is absolutely connected to todays consumer attitudes and trends. His cultural relevance is right in tune with McDonalds new direction.

"Janet Jackson's indecent exposure was planned and completely consistent with the values of MTV/VIACOM/CBS"
Janet just confirmed that 'trash' is a Jackson family value.

Can only hope their canned response takes on 'real meaning' when people fight back and demand accountability. . .
. . .and that goes to who decided to award the half-time to MTV in the first place; and to all, who are now playing the 'see/hear no evil' excuse.

It's one thing for this crap to be on cable ---- which many of us don't choose to buy for this exact reason, they don't need to bring in onto the other stations.

You asked if lying is a sin.
Not if you are a PC Democrat. (That's Post-Clinton Democrat). This whole episode is soooooooo Clintonesque, and doesn't even involve the exposed, pierced nipple, but rather, how CBS, MTV, and Timberlake instinctively handled it. With outrageous lies!
Think of the arrogance! They insult our intelligence by denying it was intentional.

"And DO complain to your local affiliate who brought this garbage into your home."
The whiney little news-chickie I snagged on the phone last night told me the local affiliate was not "responsible" for what happens on the CBS feed.
Weenies.

I don't share the righteous indignation over this little incident.
I've been waiting for a shot of the lovely Janet (Miss Jackson if you're nasty) like that since she played the JJ's sister on Good Times. (Hey, I was 12, okay?)

Decadence perhaps is the correct description. Being old I cannot abide what the new morality has become.

Pasty, my nipple... it was a nipple ring of sorts... To force that nipple on an unsuspecting audience is moral terrorism. The viewing public should ban together to form a class action lawsuit against the NFL, CBS and MTV...

My e-mail to the FCC.....
Maybe if we all freep 'em we'll get something more that a shoulder shrug
I demand that CBS have it's license to broadcast be suspended until an investigation takes place.
The use of the public airwaves is NOT a right but a privilege bestowed by the people of the United States to an organization with the expectation it will abide to good order and discipline.
CBS spokesman have denied knowledge of the event, this is no excuse as they are the stewards duly sponsored by the US government and are the ultimate responsible party.
Evidence exists that the upper management of CBS were aware and approved of this outrage.
Suspend all CBS rights and privileges immediately pending the outcome of a independent investigative board

It would be tempting to consider that view as part of the problem.

That's why the outfit was specially made with a tear-away section and Janet just happen to have a pastie underneath. Completely 'unplanned'. You're certainly right in this case. Pasties are a bit unusual as underclothing.
Obviously their bad taste has caught up to them and they're pulling a Clinton to avoid the heat.

Well, I can't wait for Britney to top Janet's act, the question is, will it be the C or D version.
