The Democrats are turning up the heat in their desire to turn our national security into a snipe hunt for political gain. This is nothing more than an attempt to play politics with the lives of our nation's citizens and preserve their own hides.

If the clowns on the left want to get to the bottom of the reason behind why our intelligence was not up to the standards some feel it should be, then the people responsibile for its current state of disrepair should not be involved in any shape or form in a probe looking for blame. We all know that they will cover their own asses and point fingers to save themselves.

Of course President Bush will go along with the rat plan. He wouldn't want to offend them.

They will set up a partisan trap like the one in the intelligence committee, subpoena every record in the White House, and leak a pack of lies the Thursday before the election.

I guarantee it.

Actually, this could be a smart move (for a change) by Bush.

When he initially rejected the idea of a probe into the Iraq intel, it implied some pretty dirty things that the Bush-bots don't want to address. By backing the investigation, Bush has the opportunity for the investigation to uncover what we already know to be true. The intel was bad because Clinton cut the funding for intel services and added restrictions that made it difficult (if not impossible) to do the job.

Theoretically, you are correct, but we all know that any probe is going not going to be conducted in a way that is going to get at the heart of the matter.

Just look at the 9-11 probe. It is being used as nothing but a polotical ploy to throw darts at the President and overlooked Clintons role in the shaping of intelligence. Yoou can be assured that any probe into our intelligence by Democrats will be conducted and used the same way.

You're exactly right. GWB should support the probe. If he opposes the probe, the Dems will make him look guilty. He should be completely for it. It'll be old news by November, and it'll take the wind out of the sails of the Dems (who deep in their hearts don't really want some pre-2000 facts to come out).

Doubtless, your assumption is correct. However, if Bush is as smart as the 'pubbies claim, he will figure out how to make sure that an intel probe points the finger at the Clinton Administration.

Fighting is really tough in Iraq. War is war. But we all want this Iraqi nightmare to cease the sooner the better. How it could be possible, I wonder. General Tommy Franks said, ‘If conquering Iraq costs 50.000 American lives that’s OK with me’. This means we should be ready to pay a very high price for democracy to be established in Iraq. I only doubt one essential thing. Have the Iraqis matured to this democracy? Do they really want it? If not, Americans, Italians and others are going to die heroes there daily for God knows how long. The mutilation of the bodies by Iraqis was a disgusting act and it made me think they are still barbarians. I guess our Marines ‘kicking’ in Iraq see it the same way. ‘I don’t even think about those people as people’. This is how a Marine in Fallujah put it. How can it match democracy?
