Since Kerry is emerging as the apparent Dem nominee, McAwful will try to contrast Kerry's war service with Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard. And he doesn't care a whit that the AWOL claim has been refuted - the goal is to make the claim again, set the initial public impression and then hope that only some of the people come across the refutation.

McAwful would be wise to remember that when you point a finger at another person, three fingers are pointing back at you.

The Bush administration has developed appropriate responses to this lunacy I believe.

Yes, more proof that Peter Jennings had this planned all along.

His question to Clark was intended to bring this subject up again.

Wow, T_C, I've found a few other quotes from Goebbels that are so close to Terry McAwful's tactics, it's scary!
"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over"

"Intellectual activity is a danger to the building of public character"

With thousands of National Guard and Reservists on duty in Iraq now is not a good time to attack a former member of the National Guard.

Plus, as I recall the President flew an F-102 Delta Dart. This was one of the first aircraft to have moving target indicators and was used for a time on night missions spotting moving trucks on the Ho Chi Minh trail. There is a possibility that an F-102 unit could very well have been activated to serve some very dangerous duty in Viet Nam.

As far as the AWOL charge is concerned, Bill Clinton was well and truly AWOL when he didn't show up for induction!!
