FORUM: The Choice of Private Schools

Two thousand D.C. students will soon escape the crumbling public school system and attend a school of their parents' choice. Their freedom was won earlier this month with the passage of the Senate Omnibus bill that included $14 million for a D.C. voucher program. While the nation's newest voucher program was met by cheers from local parents, it was also met with immediate condemnation by self-proclaimed child advocates, such as Sens. Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton.

Hitlery and the Sozzled Teddy are pandering to their money givers (teachers unions). As usual, they're looking out for numero uno at the expense of those that they represent. Nothing new for the Communist. Same sick trick.

If you continue to send the same amount of money to the school system and relieve them of the burden of 2,000 students in overcrowded schools . How can that be harmful?

Good question, Sarge... But don't confuse Democrats with logic when it comes to school choice.

"If you continue to send the same amount of money to the school system and relieve them of the burden of 2,000 students in overcrowded schools . How can that be harmful?"

If liberals and leftists really cared about the children, this would be a no-brainer.

But to them it was about the politics and ideology first -- politics, in that teachers comprise one of the only large, dependably-Democratic unions left in the USA; and ideology, in that the Government must do the educating, not private enterprise or individual citizens.

Once vouchers take hold you will finally see these dilemmas on the headlines of the op-ed sections, authored by liberals. But they are all holding the line until the tide is irreversible.

champions of hypocrisy

Clinton and Kennedy, champions of hypocrisy LOL

This column spells out the problem more clearly and concisely than any I've seen yet... I wish it could be printed and tucked under the door of every family with children and grandchildren in the D.C. area.

And THAT is what floors me on a daily basis.... when are Dem "constituents" going to see this? Most of the liberal "causes" cater to one tiny portion of their supporters to the great expense of all the others. The foundation of their entire party has lost all structural integrity. What stiff wind will finally blow it over and WHY is it taking so long?

Tamsey, your tagline is a classic -- and right on the mark. I hope and trust voters in November will feel the same way -- at least those reasonable undecideds.

Tamsey, the author of this piece is going to be on a radio interview tonight with Glenn Sacks ("His Side with Glenn Sacks") at 9PM Pacific Coast Time (broadcast out of LA and Seattle):

http://www.hisside.com/

Here's a description of the discussion tonight -- if interested, you can get the broadcast from the website:

Valentine's Day, once a happy occasion for college students, has instead become a day of rancor and discord which symbolizes the divide between men and women on college campuses.

Much of the sour sentiment surrounding Valentine's Day has been caused by Eve Ensler's "holiday" campaign "V-Day: Until the Violence Stops." For years the holiday's backers and its campus supporters in Women's Studies departments and women's centers have propagated a series of discredited falsehoods which stigmatize and vilify men by wildly exaggerating the extent of American men's violence against women. Dissident feminist Christian Hoff Sommers calls these canards "hate statistics."

Ensler's "holiday" is now "celebrated" on over 500 college campuses, and college newspapers are saturated both with misandrist (anti-male) V-Day ads and approving news stories and opinion columns. Productions of her anti-male play The Vagina Monologues have become an integral part of V-Day festivities. Valentine's Day, which in the past symbolized the romantic bonds between men and women, has been turned into a day which further separates them.

Carrie Lukas, Director of Policy for the Independent Women's Forum has helped craft her organization's fight against anti-male feminism on college campuses and in society as a whole. Fox News Columnist Wendy McElroy has written extensively on V-Day, the Vagina Monologues, and campus misandry. Carrie and Wendy will join Glenn on His Side with Glenn Sacks on Sunday, February 1 at 9 PM.

Vouchers will only prolong the problem.

Separate school and state.

No compulsory government schooling, no taxes for same, eliminate it all and enshrine that separation in every state constitution.

You're talking about people who believe, for example, that the President planned 9/11 so that he could give money to oil companies. One of their "party leaders" Ted Kennedy has broken into a number of sozzled harangues about how the President is a "liar." I mean, these people afford Michael Moore and Al Franken a good living by sucking up their garbage.

Can you name one Democrat issue that isn't propped up by deception and lies? That's the only way that they get by. If you prove them wrong on a point, they lie or change the subject instead of reconsidering their views. They're too irrational to "wake up" in my opinion. The only other alternative is to simply beat them.

Hey, thanks for the heads up! I've enjoyed her other work and will definitely try to catch her interview this evening :-)

And I'm happy that you agree with my tag. GOP versus Dem is no longer just a matter of different ideology, in my opinion. From what I've seen of Kerry, he may even despise America more than Clinton did...

Good points there :-( I'm surprised at the "average" folks, though... the ones that aren't foaming at the mouth liberals but have simply voted Dem all their lives because their parents did.

I think it has to do with liberal control of media and the entertainment industry, though, to answer my own question. How are they supposed to ever see through the smoke and mirrors when the messages they get 24/7 conceal what is actually happening.

I agree with you. I don't think that it's a coincidence that the popularity of non-liberal news sources (FOX News, Talk Radio) coincides with the tide of Republican wins. Republicans have the House, Senate, Presidency, majority of Governorships, and so on.

In my family, I've found that those who were voting Democrat simply didn't know what it was they were buying. The Democrats of a generation ago are night and day to todays Democrats. Case in point, JFK's tax cuts and hatred of Communism versus toady's Democrats that embrace socialism.

I have little doubt that the tide will continue to turn in our favor. The only ones that can screw that up is us.
