Nope, we are in the Twilight Zone. But we have one small advantage. By the small penance of crawling over broken glass for miles, we may still all get to the voting booths and render our vote for George W. Bush on November 2, 2004.
Yes, I know, there are still single-issue voters out there that would never support a Democrat, and would rather vote for a third-party than George Bush. But this time, there is no alternative that lies between the Republican and the Democrat, as there was when Ross Perot was out there, in 1992 and 1996. There may be an alternative out there that is some sort of rugged individualist, but none of note has emerged.
If you cannot, in good conscience, vote for Bush, then go WAY over to the fever swamps, and vote for the third-party person who is MORE radical than the Democrats. Every vote over there is taken directly away from the Democrats (or so they would think) and they force themselves ever more leftward. At some point the American public can finally no longer countenance this anti-American slant, and they shall abandon the Democrats as a major party forever.
But don't NOT vote.
