Dean Campaign Pays Up

West Des Moines, January 30, 2004 - After stiffing a metro deli on a $963 bill, the Howard Dean Campaign is paying up.

UPS Delivery brought the check to the Brown Bag Deli in West Des Moines this afternoon. A campaign staffer said they were sorry for the mix-up, and were happy to pay the bill.

The Deli's owner, Scott Hoffman, gladly accepted the check that had been due since January 16. Hoffman says he has even named a sandwich after the former governor--he says it's made with "bologna and cheese".

Perhaps moose and cheese would be more appropriate after Dean's loss inn HH.

I remember when Jimmy Carter was running for president former Georgia governor Lester Maddox, who owned a deli in Atlanta. Maddox added the "Jimmy Carter Sandwich" to the menu - white bread, a litle peanut butter, and a lot of baloney! (We pronounce bologna 'baloney' here in the South, the way it orta be)

I'll bet they still stiffed the delivery boy for the tip.

This is good...probably wouldn't have happened if there had not been publicity on Fox News and at least one other channel about it.

For Dean's campaign, this means a whole 'nother state they have to cancel campaign ads in.

I grew up in New York and Boston calling it baloney too. I'd say pronouncing it in the Italian manner is pedantic.

We know that Dean's cash is dwindling - but we do not know where Sharpton is getting funds.

Political campaigns are famous for stiffing creditors and vendors - and the debts from campaigns live on for decades. John Glenn was still retiring debts in late 1990's from his 1984 presidential campaign (!)

Sharpton has fly-by-night written all over him – his campaign better be paying cash for everything – I’m not going to listen to those who extended this snake’s campaign credit – they are fools.
