You don't think that US and Britain wouldn't like to get their hands on some of that oil? They're treating Sudan with kid gloves for what they're doing.

250,000 barrels a day is next to nothing. It would be far more expensive to extract than many other places in the world. I think the U.S. is more interested in oil in Chad and West Africa. (Incidentally Sudan didn't know it had oil until they were told they had in 1974 by George Bush. snr...)
