I didn't say that you must love one of the parties. Nor do you even need to endorse a party. But if anyone truly believes that neither party cares at all about America then it seems to me it would be a hopeless matter because that would mean that no president has ever cared about our country.

I suspect the other poster's point is that the present-day political parties predicate their actions on retention of power as opposed to any real principles. I'm sure they rationalize their decision by believing if they remain in power - even at the cost of dearly held principles - the country will still be better off than if the other party won power.

To some extent that's true, but slowly adopting the other party's principles still takes the nation in the wrong direction.
