Can't be. John Kerry said threats are over stated or not real and are cooked up by the administration.

This report cannot be credible. John F'ing Kerry has stated that the threat of terrorism is exaggerated.

Thanks for the heads-up.
One question: what will the American people be told to do except "go about your business as usual"?
That part's always annoyed me. "Dear Citizen: someone (we don't know who) is actively planning to visit upon you and yours a terrible death (we don't know when or how). Carry on."

Saudi UPDATE FROM FT.... Here we go......
http://news.ft.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=FT.com/StoryFT/FullStory&c=StoryFT&cid=1073281438000 Security fears grow at hajj pilgrimage
By Heba Saleh in Cairo
Published: January 30 2004 14:20 | Last Updated: January 30 2004 15:06
Some 1.8m Muslim pilgrims are to ascend Mount Arafat near the holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia on Friday in a ritual considered the climax of the annual hajj.
This years pilgrimage is taking place amidst heightened security arrangements aimed at addressing both the usual concerns arising from the size of the crowd and also the new threat of violence posed by groups affiliated to al Qaeda.
Helicopters, snipers, bomb squads and border guards have been deployed in Mecca and the surrounding locations where the pilgrims perform the rites.
Since the simultaneous suicide bombings of three residential compounds housing foreigners in the capital Riyadh last May, it has become evident that al Qaeda has taken its fight to the Kingdom with the aim of destabilising the ruling al Saud family.
The last nine months have been marked by repeated clashes between armed militants and the security forces. The authorities have made hundreds of arrests and they are still searching for 23 men who top their most wanted list.
On Thursday, five Saudi policemen were killed in broad daylight in a suburb of Riyadh, after they came under fire when they went to conduct a search in the house of a suspected militant. The attackers, a group of six to 10 men, managed to flee. According to the Interior Ministry, police found two grenades, two automatic rifles and five pistols in the house.
Following the attack, a statement attributed to al Qaeda said the group would continue its war within the Kingdom. ''The mujahedeen will continue on the path and force the infidels out of the Arabian peninsula...and promise to take revenge on anyone who fights the faith and its people, or stands as a line of defence for the crusader forces.''
The Saudi authorities had said in early November that they had foiled a plot to attack pilgrims gathered in Mecca during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Two of the alleged plotters were shot dead.
The holy places in Mecca have been a focus of political unrest in the past. In 1979, a group of Islamic radicals from a little known organisation seized the Grand Mosque in the city and demanded "the purification of Islam" and the liberation of the country from the "infidel clique" of the royal family. Some 1,000 rebels put up a resistance for more thab two weeks until the security services flooded then stormed the mosque. Scores of people were killed.
