Clinton Takes Credit for Destroying Saddam's WMDs!
January 30, 2004
When I heard the audio sound bites of Bill Clinton after his meeting with congressional Democrats, I asked, "Why didn't I lead off the show with this?" When asked if he believed Saddam had WMDs, he replied, "[T]he United States and Britain bombed for four days in the places where we thought the remaining chemical and biological stocks were. Because there were no inspectors there, obviously we don't know if we got a hundred percent of what we thought was there, 50% or 10%."
This is Bill Clinton saying he took out Saddam's weapons of mass destruction! Clinton admits the weapons were there, but in four days of bombing, ladies and gentlemen, he and Tony Blair, took 'em out - without a single person killed other than maybe a janitor. The Los Angeles Times reported the event under the headline, "Citizen Clinton Takes the Hill," reporting it was "supposed to be a low-key, off-the-record affair." If Clinton had wanted that, he wouldn't have had the meeting in Washington. He'd have kept it secret and certainly not talked to reporters.
The audio below also features clips of NBC's Chip Reid gushing that this "was like we're transported back to the 1990's" with a "jubilant" Clinton "holding court and dispensing political wisdom." Chip: "Despite that modesty, the former president is still widely viewed as one of the most astute politicians in the Democratic Party, and still wields significant power behind the scenes." Clinton, modest? And somehow he's paradoxically "wielding significant power behind the scenes" while he "plans to stay quietly in the background for now."
Bill's kingmaker status also conflicts with his statement that he has no favorite among the Democrat candidates. The Times quotes Congressman Bob Matsui (D-CA): "I don't think there's any question that Bill Clinton is the dominant Democratic politician of our generation." That's what's wrong with them. This is precisely why this is a party that's spiraling down to a status of almost irrelevance in electoral politics. Anyway, this is why we didn't find any WMDs in Iraq. There's not an intelligence problem at all - except that we couldn't go in and inspect after Clinton bombed.
I don't care what you think of the guy, you have to love this! Almost as funny is his reply when a reporter asks Clinton, if he thinks John F. Kerry is too liberal to win the White House. Said the powerbroker, "I like all these people. I admire them. They made a contribution to whatever good I was able to do for the American people, and I'm not going to get involved, but I don't think it's fair to say he can't be elected or that he's too liberal." He took a few generic swipes at Bush on the deficit, too. Folks, you must listen to this audio. It's just made my day!
Doesn't he mean "A vast coalition of nations lead by the UN" bombed for four days?
Then by not telling the world that he destroyed "all" of Saddam's WMD he is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Americans and Iraqis.
Please FReepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent miscellaneous ping list.
