This is insane. Ofended- fooey. Competition is what makes this country great. To "educate" that there is no competition in the real world is nuts

Truth be known, the parents are ashamed of their own kids and are worried it will reflect badly on them. Then again, the parents were probably not to smart either.

This is why you have kids that can't read & write when they graduate and it's not the teachers fault Pres. Bush, it's the F***ing administrators, attorneys & politicians fault.

“The rationale was, if there are some children that always make it and others that always don’t make it, there is a very subtle message that was sent...”

No, not so subtle. The unambiguous message is: get your s--t together and you'll be recognized for it.

I think I'll tell my boss(es) that I don't feel like trying hard anymore because it's like competition, which is incompatible with my worldview.

There is no hope foe this country.

Not only with all the PC madness, homosexual agenda taking root, this country has slaughtered 44 million babies.

Does anyone think God is going to overlook this? lol at you if you think He is.

Yes, but competition makes kids feel bad. We can't have anyone feel anything bad, that would be wrong.(/sarcasm)
It started with banning games like dodgeball and kickball...the reasons were it wasn't fair to the kids who got picked last. And then at the end of the game, there is a loser, so somebody's feelings are hurt. Kids that grow up without knowing what losing is, are going to be devastated when they reach the real world.

"The unambiguous message is: get your s--t together and you'll be recognized for it. "

because we all know that true self esteem comes from WITHIN.....

and not only that, schools are almost fanatical in offering all sorts of activities for people to achieve in....drama, music, athletics, art, debate, leadership, community service, etc etc...

a student no matter what his or her limitations, can find things to excell in....

Welcome to the Monkey House...

Reminds me of Kurt Vonnegut's 'Harrison Bergeron'

Next expect that companies will not be able to grade and select the best of potential employees, oops I forgot, that already happens. Sort of tells you why American companies are moving overseas.

The parents are just going through the typical liberal response of "if I can't have it, I want NO ONE to have it."

Competition is what makes this country great

My personal experience with honor rolls today:

I graduate from law school in 4 months, and I was planning on taking this semester nice and easy. In my free time today, I pulled out my transcript, did a few calculations on my grade point, and realized that I'm closer to graduating "cum laude" than I thought I was. Granted, it will be a stretch to get the semester GPA that I need, but I have a reason to push myself now. It basically changed my outlook on the entire semester.

These schools have taken that challenge away from everyone.

This brings to mind the upcoming Super Bowl.

Maybe, instead of the team with the most points winning, we could have a system where the winner is the team that best portrays the "Spirit of Athleticism", or else the team that shows the "Deeper Respect for Diversity & Community Traditions".

And then after they DO win, the team triumphant, declares that "Everyone is the Winner" - calling the opposing team to their locker-room for a universal celebration of the....(oh, never mind...)

(sheesh...)

LOL...you beat me to it! So should UT and Vandy just accept all applicants, or should they just shut their doors now and save everyone potential embarrassment?

A new bumper sticker is being printed for proud parents:

My child is a mediocre student at Johnson Middle School...but it's not his fault! The dog ate his homework, he's small and other kids pick on him, he has ADHFD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Flatulence Disorder), the teacher hates him, his father is behind on child support, etc. etc...

By the same "logic" sports teams scores should not be put in the newspapers because the losing teams might feel bad. It's a mad, mad world w/nothing for students to strive for. Mediocrity rules.
