I hate to call anyone a racist.

No, you don't. You enjoyed it.

Blacks like Jesse Jackson and Queezy Mfume and Louis Farrakhan are allowed to be mad-dog foam-at-the-mouth racists, and it is ignored if not outright excused.

If a non-black even acknowledges that race exists, he is a branded a racist.

How many Holier-Than-Thou pills have you taken today?

Roberts is more right than Volokh in this case.

What we've "achieved" is a genteel sort of more-or-less uniform slavery administered through the IRS and the other alphabet agencies, with some special privileges written into it for favored groups. All other things being equal, the political order of the late 19th century was better: fewer people were discriminated against under color of law.

The Constitution is now of purely historical interest. Persons who'd like to dispute that are invited to read the McCain Feingold Bipartisan Campaign Finance Reform Act, and the Supreme Court decision that upheld it.

Freedom, Wealth, and Peace,
Francis W. Porretto

Yep, let me go wipe my leg off. (sarcasm off/)

Which is Bull-Hockey and shouldn't be permitted. Left wing versions of Pat Buchanan or PCR are not particularly decent people either.

He's done more than acknowledge the existence of other races. He's also condemned them as being less desirable parts of our country. He's better than Al Sharpton only because he has yet to act on his convictions.

How many pots have you called black today, Mr. Kettle?

It's quite amazing to find FR being used to smear Craig Roberts. Roberts' essay compares the freedom of modern Americans to 19th century slaves for the purpose of demonstrating that we aren't as free today as we like to think.

Volokh selectively quotes Roberts while engaging his own subject, race, and then creates a straw man out of Roberts that he proceeds to beat. This would be just one more example of sloppy logic if it weren't for the fact that while misrepresenting Roberts' article he's also malinging the man's character. As we've seen all too often there's a faction at FR that promiscuously tosses around accusations of racism. The Left doesn't have to work very hard at destroying their opponents when they have comrades on the Right imitating their worst behavior, and doing their dirty work for them.

Paul Craig Roberts is a respected economist, and did as much as any one man to bring the 'supply-side revolution' of the Reagan era into being. He deserves better than to be slandered at FR.
