I was at a large family wedding a few years ago. One of my wife's cousins is openly gay. He was at the wedding with his boyfriend, who is flamingly gay. A heterosexual friend of the groom had far too much to drink, and was hitting on anything and everything that moved, including my 80 year old mother-in-law (I am not making this up!) Shortly after the old lady chased him away, he ended up outside with the gay cousin, swapping spit, much to the disgust of the flaming boyfriend.

Several of us noted that we'd all been drunk enough, from time to time, to take home a girl that was coyote ugly. But none of us had ever, ever, remotely had the notion to take home an ugly guy. Or, even a good-looking guy. The expression, "He drank himself gay" has been added to our family lore. This doesn't answer your question, but I thought it might be a fun story to share.

Medical science is divided on whether anyone is really "born gay" (or straight, for that matter). Who we are is a complex interaction between inherited traits and learned behavior.

The "born gay" argument is kind of stupid to me anyway....as since I'm a Christian who strongly believes the classic teaching that everyone is born a sinner....I don't care if anyone was born gay, or an alcoholic, or a car thief or a pedophile for that matter. JUST DON'T DO IT!!!

Everyone has inclinations we've had since childhood where if we let them define and rule us, would make us into monsters. The kid stealing cars at age 17 was probably stealing hotwheels at age 7....and may have come from a long ancestral line of thieves--but we don't then turn around and say, "Oh, he was born that way, so it must be OK!"

Homosexual behavior is not good for individuals, families or society at large. It should be discouraged and recognized for what it is: perverted sexual practice.
