Just curious.... When we insist that the Confederate Flag fly in various states, we are not saying that we are proud of slavery.... We are saying that we honor the service of those veterans...
That is what I keep hearing anyway...

Civil war veterans north and south deserve honor and recognition...
I am sure that not all of them were concerned about slavery and it ending... I think they wanted to come home and find what most people want... Someone to listen to their heartbeat late at night, a decent job, and a general feeling that their service had meaning...

And I don't think John Kerry is the only person that feels that they were not treated fairly after the war...

By the government or the people....

Also, I do not think that the UCMJ and the Geneva convention were always adhered to by US personnel... As you have access to interesting info, I am sure you could come up with some stats on court martials during that period..... If the number is less than 150, OK...

I don't know why but I have the feeling that at least one GI was tried and convicted for each of the war crimes alleged...

Still makes Kerry a sham artist but let's be honest and say the war was not good for a lot of people that went and came back...

Kerry made it back. Bush never went....
And that war was filled with a lot of unpleasantness...

What is different about Vietnam....

I say again.... Can a person be proud that he served but ashamed of the reason he served... I wonder if that caused some of the Post Traumatic Stress Disorder....

This is the president who was impeached, yes?........He also lost his law license.... Of course, he lied about fellatio versus the case you speak of where someone is allegedly lying about war crimes...

I know that perjury and murder are different but it occurs to me that lying about war crimes is like perjury 2 and lying about sex is like perjury 5... IMHO...

They'll give him an even bigger pass because he served his country, and the more the Republicans try to beat that 'after he came home and protested the war' drum, the tighter the Independents will latch on to him.

Clinton slid during Impeachment because most of the electorate hated his persecutors more than they hated him, and the same will hold true in spades for Kerry if the Republicans are stupid enough to travel down that road.

Fewer things are more repugnant than the rantings of the smooth-palmed deferrment crowd. The only people that can take him on concerning his post war issues are other Vets, and even they would have to raise such a rukus (sp?) about it in order to bring it to the widespread attention of the electorate.

It's not usually the style of men of such grand caliber as our Vets to do such a thing. I'm sure most of them will just view it as a matter of it being up to the electorate to do some research before they vote.

It's not usually my tendency to look to the pessimistic side of things, but these last few weeks I'm hating nearly all politicians, all of the time.

No wonder Disraeli chronicled such disgust as I'm feeling as the phenomenon of Statesmen being degraded into Politicans.

They can all go take a long walk of a short pier; SOBs to the last creep and cretin.

Why don't you just write a couple letters to him yourself?

I won't get a response -- I'm not from his state. I'm from Hitlery's

In that case I guess we are in agreement.
