If they arrest someone with a unregistered weapon, wouldn't that be technically, a gun ibvulved in a crime?

"You don't become top dog in Cook County by keeping your nose clean."

The stumpy paper-hanger is, in every sense of the word, a tyrant. Chicago is the murder capital of America -- again -- because of this vile dwarf.

"A couple of things:
Of that 2370 number how many were sold to a legitimate buyer who then gave it to a friend?
How many total guns did Chuck's sell in that period?
How many total guns were used in crimes during that time period? "

You forgot: How many were sold to a legitimate buyer and were later stolen?

I'm tempted to drive 4 hours there with a sign that says "Daley's cops are the reason for the 2nd Amendment".

Perhaps more to the point, how many of these guns were traced by the ATF because the Chicago police suspected a law-abiding citizen of keeping and bearing arms in defiance of Illinois law?

Your idea of a free "Beginner's handgun" class is a good thought. However, seeing as most of these protesters have never handled a gun in their life, offering an introductory class in firearms safety and a clinic for shooting a .22 rifle would be a good starter. Then, when the class arrives at the range and starts learning the basics with the .22's, have a couple of small-caliber handguns available and offer the class members an opportunity to "compare" how the handguns shoot compared to the rifles.

At the very least, the offer of a safety course will show them that not all gun owners are deranged maniacs; at best, the shooting classes will open the eyes of some of these individuals to the joys of owning and shooting a firearm. Going "plinking" with a .22 is relatively inexpensive and can be one of the most enjoyable experiences imaginable.

Could some Chicago FReeper(s) please go snap some photos of the police involved? It would be great to have some photo documentation posted here of tax money being used to trample the constitution...

Well, if the good people in Shytown would just STOP ELECTING ANYONE WITH THE LAST NAME OF DALEY, these problems would abate a bit.

But Chicago politcs have always, ALWAYS been as corrupt as can be. It's traditional.

Hell, most of us Hoosiers would like to give Chicago a nice gift - a little bit of lakefront land we like to call Gary, IN. Take it and keep it! It's a stain on my state! LOL

Good points. And a free BBQ right beside the protestors would score points too!

"......how many were sold to a legitimate buyer who then gave it to a friend?"

Or how many were sold to legitimate buyers who had the guns later stolen through no fault of their own?

The number is meaningless without context.

How many guns did he sell in the same period?

Were the crime guns sold in that period, or traced in that period?

Knowing the tactics of the left, I suspect the 'crime gun' number is actually the number of traces performed by the BATF. Many traces are of guns confiscated, recovered stolen property, etc.

I'd be willing to bet that the guy who shot the home invader in Wilmette had his serial number traced by the BATF.

(BTW, for a product less regulated than 'Teddy Bears', it sure seems easy to trace a gun back to a dealer)

Did ya' ever notice that the people (the Left) who scream about police abusing citizens are the ones that push to have the 'authorities' disarm the people.
Then scream that more police are needed to protect the people, then scream that police are abusing the people, and on and on...

Especially if they got to shoot the critter, gut it, skin it, and then prepare the BBQ. {/sarcasm}

Only the police and military need firearms. Only trained professionals can be trusted with such dangerous things as handguns and semi-auto rifles. They are much too dangerous for ordinary civilians.

The cops back there in my home state are not on our side. They are actually very disturbing in there conversations and attitudes toward the general public

In a recent report, the Americans for Gun Safety Foundation said Chuck's sold 2,370 guns traced to crimes between 1996 and 2000, based on data from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

The reason? The store is in Chicago, a city that practices victim disarmament and therefore has a high crime rate (which is fully intended by Dictator Daley).
