Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy, but some wonder whether his proposal has any short-term benefits for him politically.

To my fellow Ohioans, and friends from CPAC, as my grandmother used to say;"Bob Bennett wouldn't know his A$$ from a hole in the ground".

The ORP is out of touch with the conservative wing of the party in Ohio, and they don't care. They think that they are immune from backlash from the right wing. With the tax and spend proclivities of the "Inside the Beltway" group in Columbus, I say watch for the November election results.

Elections should he held quietly and people should go vote. Not now! TV channels are 24-7 covering these idiots mocking each other or every word, covering their every move, as they go from talk show to talk show like celebrities.

It's all turned into complete, utter BS. And some have been sucked up into it while performing cheerleading exercises for them as they go from TV show to TV show.

Government has gotten so big its covered on dozens of TV and Radio stations, 24 hours a day, with multiple talk shows dedicated to all this sh*t.

This is what happens when government grows into a titanic monster. This is what we get. It will get worse my friends, bet the rent. The socialist in DC have made a complete industry out of government politics.

Years ago you never saw this crap. You went to vote once or twice a year and that was it. Now? It's a 24-7 non stop, endless debate, political dog and pony show.

The government monster needs to be caged.

It would be possibly a bit different if Bush announced that the businesses bringing these people in would pay for their health care costs, and the costs of educating their kids --- they want them, they pay for them --- and announce that all government handouts would be cut off to guest workers, their families, and all other non-citizens --- but he never mentioned any of that. It seems he plans to have us pay for them, but the corporations get the benefit of them working for far less than we can.

Bush did promise in the State of the Union Address that he was going to cut the federal budget deficit in half but I haven't seen much indications he is going in that direction. All welfare programs and other giveaways should be radically reformed ---- that's where most of the spending can easily be cut.

I'm getting afraid that what could happen is that the democrats will promise to cut the deficit, get into office and really hike up the taxes and end the tax cuts. The problem is well described by Bastiat. "If the law were confined to its proper functions, then everyone's interest in the law would be the same." However, because of legal plunder by the government, our party machinery is frequently taken over by those motivated by personal expedience rather than principle. The more that you cut the size of government and lower taxes, the more these peoples will become more attracted to other professions rather than your state party machinery!
