Hey my ancestors did. Two signed the Bradford accord. One of those left a two week old baby and wife at home to spy on the Hessian troop for GW and nearly freeze to death at Valley Forge.
Did his wife whine while he was gone. Hall no! She harvested the crop and planted the next years. Wealthy? NO just poor German dirt farmers who wanted freedom.

I view the losses from World War Two to have much more objective societal impact on the United States than those of the World Trade Center.Laz, evil is evil. It doesn't matter HOW MANY are killed due to evil men. It's the same thing. ONE death is one too many.

That is EXACTLY what your former government says. You know, when you come to mention it, YOU'RE RIGHT! I think Paul Martin in fact endorsed Howard Dean for prez just the other day! I actually think you would be right at home in Canada, Tex. They like free drugs up there. The have govt supported arts. The beer is a hell of a lot better than Lone Star and the strip clubs take it all off. Think of it as a big, cold Texas....

I'm going to head to bed, so I'll await your answer tomorrow.
LM, I reference the immigration threads where you mentioned the only way to encourage civility is if freepers police themselves, since the mods can't be everywhere at once. If I'm doing something wrong by asking folks to dial the rhetoric back a notch, feel free to let me know and I'll change my behavior.
nopardons, I'm sorry you reacted so negatively to my comments, which were not intended to be baiting.
To: hoosiermama
Oh, I think they do realize it; they just have to make it nasty to justify their existence.

Laz ,we weren't fighting WW2 on our own soil,in our own country. Those days are gone. We are no longer buffered by oceans -- well, we are, but they are no longer obstacles. The next world war will be fought, in part, on American soil.
We might as well get used to that concept, cuz it's inevitable. Its also another reason why Americans should keep assault weapons.

I have more faith in human nature than you do, I suppose. Perhaps. I just know what God says about evil and letting it prevail.

I would have backed my man 100% and since I am attracted only to real men, (read: brave, independent, honest, who truly believe in our Creator) I just may have been the wife of one of the signatures.
I'll go you one better. I'll gladly give up my vote provided every other female loses her vote also. If I had my way, I'd restrict voting to property owners and tax payers, in the pursuit of prohibiting folks from voting themselves a hand-out.
wardaddy can attest to my leanings. We've engaged in several discussions about this very matter.

Conservatives need to hold the administration accountable where they've failed, and praise good policy. The way I see it, you get all of the former and none of that latter around here.

Laz, evil is evil. It doesn't matter HOW MANY are killed due to evil men. It's the same thing. ONE death is one too many.Magnitude matters. Adolph Hitler was worse, and had a worse impact, than John Gacy did.

I guess we just don't agree.....I think we probably agree on the ends to the means, just not the means. As much as people shake their heads at people here who will not support Bush, many of us in my camp find it equally baffling that so many self-described "conservatives" can look past Bush's faults.
