Thank you for the link....Excellant history and analysis of the problem....and good and bad solutions. Now if we can all get behind Tancredo and support his bill. Do you know if he has any other signing on as co-sponcers?

CONCLUSION
Thus the formula for success is a balanced and complete reform, not one that adds just another visa to the pile. A small guest worker program, vigorous enforcement of law, and end chain migration and anchor babies. then we would have a saner policy: more space for the 'workers only' migrants, no flood of illegal aliens, and a manageable labor influx that doesn't hurt American workers.

In the House, elements of these reforms are being proposed. Tom Tancredo has pushed a bill in the House that embodies most of these principles.

"For years our local farmer relied on "Migrant workers to work the melon fields....Then they discovered they could stay, find "winter jobs", keep their kids in school (great well behaved kids). They open restaurants (appreciated)other businesses or found full time employment, Bought houses, Sent for their relatives. We now have a very large Hispanic group. They are hardworking, family oriented, and have contributed much..."

I'm far from being anti-immigrant, ma'am, and am not intrinsically against increasing our legal immigrant quotas, but this rampant law-breaking must be brought to an end, and it won't happen if we continue to offer amnesty to the law-breakers!! I'm not saying these law-breakers can never become citizens, but they need to follow the proper channels to achieve their dreams...there are too many would-be American citizens following the proper channels to reward the law-breakers with amnesty, IMHO.

"...OTOH no one has asked if they are legal or illegal! They don't want to appear to be bigots (this is the home county of the original KKK) so we are gracious, supportive and ignore any discretion that may be."

We've gotta get over this ridiculous notion that enforcing our laws is "bigotry"...there's a right way and a wrong way to become an American citizen, and we gotta start championing the right way and punishing the wrong way!! That's got nothing to do with the KKK!!

"OTOH My cousin teaches in CA...Half of her students speak a language other than English....No two the same language! She has students whose parents are here legally, drive BMW, vacation in Europe and GET FREE LUNCH, BOOKS ETC. THEY REFUSE TO SALUTE THE FLAG AND ARE DISRUPTIVE AND DISRESPECTFUL IN CLASS." What's wrong with this picture? Which group would you like to see go back home. I know my answer."

It takes a certain amount of time fer a culture to absorb any influx of immigrants into its culture, and if we allow too many aliens into any locality in a given amount of time, we are short-circuiting the process and benefiting no one in the long run. Many areas in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California and elsewhere are unfairly burdened with absorbing more immigrants than they can be expected to handle, and it's the Federal Guv'ment's fault!! We must protect our borders by enforcing our immigration laws...to do otherwise is a betrayal to all involved!!

I think you are fully aware that my stated issues with Dubyuh's presidency to date are intended as ConstructiveCriticism!! If we can get a handle on restraining outta-control FederalSpending, Dubyuh's second term promises to be even more rewarding than his first!!

We need to avoid the trap of continuing to defend the Ptolemaic structure of the universe, as observational data comes in by creating an ever less elegant structure of little suborbits to explain the motion of the planets, least the house of cards come down on us with us at the epicenter. Maybe Bush needs to see a serious erosion of his base, to get "sober" again about fiscal matters. When he started chatting about Mars in the context of mega-deficits, I though he may well have achieved terminal velocity.

Maybe it is time for some tough love. The bogus numbers on the drug thing quite disgust me, and I think have hurt Bush politically quite substantially, and he deserves the hurt. He is putting at risk his agenda on those matters which some of us care about most.

Of course they are. The Dems hate any reforms that give people more freedom, choice, prosperity, national soveriegnty, etc. That is why we have to take Jim Robinson's advice and keep the Dems away from power.

Yes, I agree with Tancredo's ideas, although I personally would like to see the repeal of the 1965 immigration law and so added more detail in my writeup.

There are about 100 or so members of Congress in the immigration reform caucus, that cosponsor Tancredo's bills. And there are other bills that tackle various parts of the problem.

One of them is my own Congressman, Lamar Smith.

This is the message we need to be sending to Washington:

"Thus the formula for success is a balanced and complete reform, not one that adds just another visa to the pile. A small guest worker program, vigorous enforcement of law, and end chain migration and anchor babies. then we would have a saner policy: more space for the 'workers only' migrants, no flood of illegal aliens, and a manageable labor influx that doesn't hurt American workers."

Looks like the problems are at least being discussed and possibilities are being considered...

I agree about the 65 law. Remember studying it in government class....didn't like it then....for the very problems that we're dealing with today. (Had an excellent teachers who was right on track!)

What are the chances of getting any/all of it repealed? IMO it has caused the mess we're in today!

Gee I thought that about the drug use back in the 60s....

Actually the bending of the law and the idea of creating loop holes to get around the law that we see so much of today all started with the 60s too....

ANd the "TRUE" conservatives want us to undo 40 years of cultural damage in 3 years!.....Geez!

This is why they're bothered.

Will Bush solve the illegal immigration problem? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the government spending problem? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the campaign finance problem? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the drug war problem? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the nation's education problems? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the so-called healthcare problems? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the so-called environmental problems? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the social security problems? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush solve the medicare problems? Probably not. But neither will Kerry, Edwards, Dean, Clark or Hillary. Chances are, they'd make it worse. Probably far worse.

Will Bush defend America from those bent on destroying her? You'd better bet your sweet bippy he will.

Will any of the Democrats defend America? Hell no they won't. They'd rather turn us over to the U.N. They'd surrender to the French Foreign Legion if given the chance.

Will Bush appoint conservative judges? Yup!

Will Kerry, Edwards, Clark, Hillary, et al, appoint conservative judges? Yeah, right. And hell will freeze over tomorrow.

Will Bush continue reducing taxes? Yup.

Will Kerry, Edwards, Clark, Hillary, et al, raise your taxes as soon as they possibly can if given the opportunity and continue raising them until hell freezes over? Yup.

Will Bush defend the right to life? Check

Will Bush defend marriage between a man a woman? Check

Will Bush defend the right to keep and bear arms? Check

Will Bush say no to Kyoto? Check.

Will Bush say no to a world court? Check.

Will Bush say no to the U.N.? Check.

Will Kerry, Edwards, Clark, Hillary, et al, remove our national sovereignty and subjugate America to world government? Just as quickly as they possibly can if given the opportunity.

Will any other person be elected to the Presidency in 2004 other than Bush (God willing) or a Democrat? Obviously not.

Doesn't make a lick of sense to me to allow the America hating, freedom hating Democrats back into power now that we've kicked them out.

Say yes to sovereignty for America and continued freedom for all Americans.

Say no to the RATS!!

President Bush receives tough love from jwalsh07 on a schedule based on how ticked off I am. The White House is programmed into my cell and I use it early and often to express my displeasure at his profligate spending and support of unconstitutional reforms.

As for squaring the circle their is only one way to do it. There will be a tax increase on the rich. Torie, jwalsh07, sabertooth and the like. It will come soon after the next election regardless of who wins. And there you have it as you are wont to say.

As well as the Potomac epicycles.

If the Center will not hold.

When he started chatting about Mars in the context of mega-deficits, I though he may well have achieved terminal velocity.

While I'm skeptical of Big Space, will will be entering a time, soon, when the 1967 UN Outer Space Treaty will become as increasingly irrelevant as the 1972 ABM Treaty did. We will need to counter China's hegemonic ambitions in the near Solar System, and the consequent arms race. If the Mars and Moon projects are being undertaken with an eye on all of that, then I'd support them in principle, though perhaps not as currently outlined.

Maybe it is time for some tough love. The bogus numbers on the drug thing quite disgust me, and I think have hurt Bush politically quite substantially, and he deserves the hurt.

Welcome to the dark side of orbital dynamics.

He is putting at risk his agenda on those matters which some of us care about most.

Why would Bush want to fund the NEA which is responsible for destroying today's children. Charolyte Iserbyte said it best in her book, "The Complete Dumbing Down of America" about how the NEA and Dept of Education are the Soviet think tanks that mastermind the socialization of every child.
