Kerry: Citizenship For Anyone In US For Five Years
Democrat Primary Debate ^ | Sep 4, 2003 | John Kerry

Posted on 01/29/2004 9:02:15 AM PST by Hon

Question: Would you support legalizing undocumented immigrants in this country?

Kerry: Absolutely. I supported and was prepared to vote for amnesty from 1986. And it is essential to have immigration reform. Anyone who has been in this country for five or six years, who's paid their taxes, who has stayed out of trouble, ought to be able to translate into an American citizenship immediately, not waiting.

Typical wrong answer.

I believe what Hon meant to say is that anyone who votes third party might as well vote democrat and I believe he/she is correct

According to the Bushbots, voting third-party is the same as voting for the Dem.

Well it is true

Only if the margin of victory is one vote. If I thought there was any chance of that being the case, I'd vote for the least liberal of the two leading candidates. Since I know that won't be the case, I use my vote to send a conservative message.

Thank you for the clarification.

If I vote for a third party candidate in November (and that's still an "if"), it'll be *for* that candidate, not for the Democrat.

The stickler for me is really this amnesty for illegals proposal. It's such an important issue that I'm unable to simply shrug it off as "Congress won't let it pass". The proposal indicates a fundamental belief the President holds that I cannot support.

No, check the LP site, fully open borders is a major party plank.

I cannot believe that people would actually vote for someone like Kerry or third party.

Neither one of them are worth voting for. (Bush or Kerry) Why don't we just call a spade a spade and write in Vincente Fox? He can steal like the Democrats and give the country away to the Mexicans like Bush. We can get two rolled up in one.

Tom Tancredo will be getting my vote.

Tancredo is doing a great job in the House of Representitives. He heads the 60+ member of the Immigration Reform Causus which in itself gives him alot of power. This is where the battle over illegal immigration will be won or lost. Tancredo and his allies will be trying to kill any bill that would grant legalized status/amesty. This is our hope.

I've written my two Republican senators (Bond and Talent) basically saying that my vote for GWB is in jepordy if amnesty passes.

With millions of people around the world trying to get into this country legally, amnesty would be a slap in the face to them.

Both New Mexico and Missouri were razor close in 2000. We have to keep in mind that the 2004 election could be decided by one state. Kerry is bad news on the issues. He'd pretty well do the Constitutional Republic in.

I feel many people in New Mexico are not happy with the President Bush's Proposal.

As they should be. I have a hard time trying to figure out why GWB proposed this. Its a lose-lose situation. He should just start enforcing the laws on the books not wimping out like this.

Kerry: Absolutely. I supported and was prepared to vote for amnesty from 1986.

So I guess there is nobody to vote for.

one EXPECTS this kind of proposal from a Rat, while Bush's proposal blindsided many of the faithful.

True! Many of the formerly faithful are now turning to the Constitution Party as a result of being blindsided by Bush's "compassionate conservatism". If Mr. Bush wants to retain those that he blindsided, he should try enforcing the existing immigration laws and stop pandering to Mexico.

Mr. Kerry expressed outrage at the difficulty many immigrants have in sending earnings back to their home countries, and said the government should "be sensible" about the matricula consular identification cards issued by the Mexican government to its citizens, including illegals, living in the United States.

This almost makes me want to go ahead and vote for Dubya. However, I expect this crap from Kerry, not from Bush. I feel betrayed by Bush's action on illegals. I don't think I can vote for someone that has betrayed his base. I will be doing a write in for Tancredo.

P.S. And if there is one thing government employees don't have to be told to do twice, it's to take it easy and not work too hard.

I believe I resent that remark.

If Bush can reverse his own stance, this could kill Kerry in the general election.

One can only hope.

I will be doing a write in for Tancredo.

Some states require write-in candidates to meet certain criteria and file certain documents in order for write-in votes for them to be counted. Make sure a write-in vote for Tancredo would be counted in your state.
