MSNBC Analyst Ron Reagan Jr. Accuses Bush of “Dementia”
Media Research Center ^ | 1-29-04 | Medial Reseach Center

Ron Reagan Jr., on MSNBC Tuesday night, sure dispelled the notion of anyone who assumed that he is any kind of conservative of friend of a Republican President. Just past 11pm EST, Reagan, whose father suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, suggested that President George W. Bush has “dementia.” Reagan, whom MSNBC brought aboard to stand in front of a national map in order to discuss upcoming primaries, commented about how David Kay concluded that “Iraq never had weapons of mass destruction.” Reagan then sarcastically asked: “What does George W. Bush say? ‘Well, I still think they had them.’ That’s not just spin. That’s dementia, you know.”

Reagan, a veteran of Fox News in its pre-FNC days, stood in front of the map, with a fire going in a fire place behind him, and commented a couple of times an hour about where the Democratic candidates may next battle it out. Just past 11pm EST, he opined on another topic: “You were talking about who’s the best person to beat Bush. And one thing that you might want to consider is that politics is a contact sport. And if you ask any NFL player, they’ll tell you it takes weeks to get used to the contact. So all these guys are out there, and they’re getting tough. They’re taking shots, and they’re getting back up again. George W. Bush, on the other hand, is sitting in the Oval Office and he’s getting soft. Now, what happens when you go in the Oval Office is you start living in a bubble, you know, you don’t read the paper anymore, you just listen to who you want to listen to. And we’re seeing that now. David Kay, for instance, comes out with a report and says Iraq never had weapons of mass destruction. What does George W. Bush say? ‘Well, I still think they had them.’ That’s not just spin. That’s dementia, you know. So I don’t get this. I’m a little angry about this. Forgive me. It looks like my pants are on fire, by the way, I’m so angry here, but it’s not true. It’s just an optical illusion for those of you who might be concerned or perhaps hopeful.”

I'll tell you something else I don't buy. I do not buy that Saddam's scientists told Saddam they were producing WMD, but hid from him that they were not. I cannot believe that a group of people in a situation like that would risk being fed into a shredder or maybe being fed to hungry lions or dipped in a vat of acid, or whatever, by deceiving Saddam. Even if a group tried, there would have to be at least one, hoping to curry favor with Saddam, who would turn the others in.

That boy's Tutu is way too tight.

"Difference is...our fathers are not being used by the left-wing broadcasts. That boy has always been flaky"

If only on the merits of Ron's recent "It looks like my pants are on fire" non-observation, it may be way too kind to describe Ron as flaky :^)

My sympathies for your Father and all those who love him; many 'bad' diseases out there but alzheimers surely one of the worst; I hope real progress is being made in fighting this disease.

Ron Reagan Jr. knows more about Ballet than he knows about politics. Hey, Ron, there's a Schnauzer to talk about!

I saw this show. Chris Matthews was the host, with a panel including Joe Scarbarough. Ron Reagan was doing a remote from another place. He was standing in front of a map with a fireplace behind him...and from the angle of the camera shot, it did look like flames shooting out from his pants. Joe Scarbarough sick of his digs at President Bush said "Hey Ron, why don't you take two steps back" (into the fireplace)LOL

I guess this is a case where the fruit fell well far from the tree.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.
Alzheimer's is indeed the "Long Goodbye" as Nancy Reagan called it. With the baby boomer generation looking at "coming of age" - I feel certain more and more research is being made.
When you see a strong man such as my father and RR reduced to the results of this disease - it can drive you to fax letters to the head of Viacom to ask that the movie on RR not be released for showing on CBS.
I truly would not wish this disease on my worst enemy.

Since when did Ronnie Jr., become a political analyst? I thought he was just doing dog show gigs?

Consider the source, of course. Ron Reagan won't visit his father because he said his dad wouldn't know the difference as to whether he was there. And instead of gwing closer to his mother in her hour of need (as Patti did), Ron had a falling-out with Nancy and doesn't talk to her anymore. What a guy.

I agree. Something just doesn't seem right. Didn't these scientists think that if they were found out it would not only put them in danger but their families as well. I have a feeling we won't know all of the truth for many years to come and by then so many stories will be told.

I don't care about his sexual preference, his politics, his I.Q., or anything else.

This guy needs to be bitch slapped just for being himself (unfortunately, he'd probably enjoy it).

Is there a way to put Ron Reagan, Jr on ignore? What's the command for that?

Yes, after the funeral is over, his 15-mins of fame is also over. You won't hear from him anymore!

I'm making an assumption here, but I'm sure that you'll be pleased to know that little ronnie is not a jr.

His middle name is Prescott. So RWR is not a Senior.
