They are all rich patricians. They jerk around in their younger years supported by parents, family name, wives, or whatever until they can worm their way into politics, which is their only area where they are not unemployable. It's true of the Kerrys, the Gores, the Bushs, the Kennedys, or whoever.
I didn't know until today that Kerry hob-nobbed with the Kennedys years ago. That explains Teddy's support for the blue blooded nabob who has no clue about the middle class or the lower classes either. Talk about an empty, expensive suit!
