I don't say this with malice, but this president is not well grounded in conservatism. I will probably vote for the guy later this year, but this just sickens me. If the arts are so damned important, why don't those who make trillions from the arts, pitch in?
Does Bush honestly think the NEA supporters are going to vote for him? This is just shocking, it's so ill advised. Why not increase the NPR funding at the same time? Yikes.

Bush thinks triangulating and moving the left is going to be successful strategy. It isn't for a Republicans. Democrats have to do that. All doing this does for a Republican is alienate the base and cost the Republicans votes.
Bush is just like his daddy. He is clueless. Without a motivated base, he might just find a way to lose.

I will probably vote for the guy later this year, but this just sickens me. Then why the hell would he care what you, or millions of other Republicans, think? You've demonstrated a slavering loyalty to the (R) behind his name; pissing away trillions on Big Stupid Republican Government means nothing to you. If it did, you'd tell him to cram it in November.
He's got your vote, and is buying more with our monay - why should he care what you think?

Bush is a liberal, vote for him if you want(I probably will too), but accept it. Just because he is called a conservative, does not make him one. The only things that would shock me, is if he supported abortions on demand or cut the size of government. Look at his record in Texas, he increased spending(with no threat of terrorism imminent) just as he has done while president.

Shhhhhhhhh! Keep quite! He may do just that, and then you will be nauseated.

If the arts are so damned important, why don't those who make trillions from the arts, pitch in? Exactly. NPR and the Salvation Army have received substantial funding from private sources within the past year. Why can't NEA do the same and find its own benefactors and philanthropists who believe in NEA's mission and purpose?
