Go stand on "principle" like some did 12 and 8 years back. That was sure a roaring success wasn't it?

We balanced the budget with Clinton and a GOP Congress. We'll do it with Kerry and a GOP Congress too.

Did the word "socialist" enter your mind as you wrote the post? It sure does mine.

Joe, Have you noticed the change in attitude the past couple of days. It went from , "No problem the White House is for Bush, to if he loses the it'll be YOUR fault!"

Uh, I've noticed a lot of things lately.

One thing for sure, is even some of the die hard Bush fans are wanting refunds....

the GOP has no plans of returning to a limited government, they have learned just like the DemocRATS that they can buy votes.

And you think that you are going to have a GOP congress with Kerry in power. When I last checked, we only had 20 or so majority and a lot of RINOS. CFR, Education Bill and all the rest came out of CONGRESS.... And it was controlled by the repbs. So what makes ya think God forbid, Kerry will do anything like this.

Exactly. Their base for being elected is full of those who believe in big government. It has been going on for too many elections to be overturned.

Well, that's fair. Most of the time, Bush takes the heat for everything around here, when he couldn't do it without the rest of 'em.

Burns' "Civil War" was faithful to history and a thoroughly worthwhile project, but was it patriotic per se? I guess compared to the other "artistic" outrages funded by EFTA is was.

I agree. I think they have no intention of doing this. Of course, I never believed it was.

Most of the folks that I know who voted for Bush last time are not planning to do so again.

Others are waiting to see what happens to the AW ban.

The remaining few will vote for him regardless.

Newt should have been faithful to his wife and not subjected himself to the Clintonistas' blackmail. Newt has only himself to blame.

Among other things;like allowing himself to believe the News Media actually liked and respected him?, Like believing his own press clippings? Like playing the game mastered by the smarmiest huckster ever in the White House? Like having a tantrum over a calculated baiting insult on A1 ?Like allowing himself to be blindsided by the Government shutdown? Yeah Newt screwed the pooch badly in a lot of ways. You're right ,kristinn. His actions crippled the movement in ways we are feeling now.Had his ego been in check, we'd not be having to fight over the squishy middle as we are now.

why is it so hard for you Bush-haters to blame Congress for anything they do?

I do blame Congress, but if you listen to the President's speaches it's him that is asking Congress to send him the spending increases so he can sign them. He requested the increase to the DOE, and I wouldn't be shocked to find that he requested the increase to the Arts as well.

You lack of logic is baffling. Clearly you are very conservative, or you wouldnt have voted for the extreme conservative Constitution Party candidate in 2000 ... but your 'solution' will lead us to socialism.

"What has voting for Republicans got us? Democrat lite."

So you plan to vote Democrat?!? full-bore of what you dont want -
ACLU running the judiciary.
UN running foreign policy.
Affirmative action and Political Correctness running the universities.
Kerry repealing tax cuts and signing up for ICC, Kyoto and other UN boondoggles that destroy our soveriegnty.

You say: "I didn't vote for Bush last time. I voted for Howard Phillips, the Constitution Party candidate."

For *all* the problems with Bush, he has done some great things - tax cuts for one, war on terror leadership for two. Gore would have been TEN TIMES WORSE on any of these matters where Bush is getting a bit 'moderate'.

"If we want less government, or at least want government to grow at a slower pace, we need the congress in the hands of one party and the presidency in the hands of the other."

Nonsense -- the REALITY is this, and it is real simple: IF YOU WANT CONSERVATIVISM IN GOVERNMENT VOTE FOR THE MORE CONSERVATIVE ALTERNATIVE.

A Republican Congress in 2003 passed the partial birth abortion ban and huge tax cuts, and passed an energy bill more conservative than anything a Democrat would sign.

Dont let Bush's inability to be 100% conservative fool you into thinking a Democrat in the same spot would in any way shape or form improve the situation.

It wont.

I don't hate him, I have lost most of my respect for him though.

Did you read the post? Our President can VETO. Maybe, at breakfast tomorrow you should tell him that. Please do.

W was was put in office by the top 1% to take the steam out of the Gingrich revolution.

I've grown to detest this blue-blood,yankee,Rockefeller-Republican liberal family.

He can ask his new Mexican friends for votes. He's losing the white male votes fast. IMO
