WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The U.S. military is planning a spring offensive against remnants of the Taliban and al Qaeda fighters in Afghanistan, a senior Defense Department official said Wednesday.
Officials have ordered troops, supplies and logistics into place to carry out the operation, the official said. The official did not say if the new offensive would require more troops.

"U.S. eyes spring offensive in Afghanistan"
How this differs from when Bill Clinton was in office -
He was always offensive, no matter the season!

Your whining is merely annoying, and not all that annoying.

OBL should be killed but i don't think he's in afghanistan anymore, Damn right WE should come home and let Osama do what he did before. Let him send people here to kill us. I have had evough of us going there and killing them. They deserve to get to kill us for a while.
Is it true Osama is staying at your house?

" How many more mountains should we waste our military fuel on? " Were not as focused on OBL as we are on the societies that support him. One person can remain hidden for every among people who worship him. Obliterate his support, and it doesnt matter so much if we find him or not.

OK, this makes sense. Why don't we just give them our entire plan, time, place, strength of force. No wonder we cant win when we advise our enemies of our intentions.
This type of operation should be top secret until we blow the shit out of them.I am sure they will stay in place and let us come. No wonder we dont win.
Thank you CNN.

Thank you CNN.
I guess that they wouldn't know anything about loose lips and sinking ships............as long as you are first with the story, that is all that matters. Yea, cnn, we are so proud of your slipping the details to the enemy, that more than likely millions of us will continue to not watch your silly little channel, and make you number 5 on the news channel networks. Then again, maybe this is a plant, by DOD..................let's hope so. Only the foolish liberals at cnn would report it. Not FOX! They care about America, not the scoop.

I agree. Nothing like giving Al Queda and the Taliban a heads up. Gee Whiz!!! Parley

This isn't about Osama, but about killing as many Al Qaeda and Taliban as we can. We go after OBL with spec ops forces, not huge army offenses.

I can say that Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar represent a threat to the world, and they need to be destroyed and we believe we will catch them in the next year," U.S. Army Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty, a coalition spokesman, said Wednesday.Connected to all the recent captures and buzz?
Cannot see the purpose in announcing this, but have to believe there is a good reason.

It might just have been said as a morale-builder for the troops. If so, I'd suggest that is a mistake.
Regardless, we have certainly signaled our intention to clean up the area with strong military force. My best guess is this is to see if any new communications by the enemy result which we can intercept. Otherwise, we shouldn't be announcing it.

It isn't Afghanistan. It's Pakistan. And this little story may well drive him there.

That's only a guess, BTW...
