According to one scientist that FRONTLINE interviewed, the Iraqi's had rockets with 3 engines on them, and Saddam wanted them to be much longer for more fuel capacity, and each rocket was to have 6 engines.

That is what they were just saying, that in the appropriate time, Saddam want to get going on the long range missile systems again.

Cornyn..emphasizing scientists could have sold to terror nations or groups. Kay says it was the biggest risk. This is Kay's reason for approving of the war.

At the rate he was at, all of Europe would have been within the circle of danger of what his missile system was capable of. Had Saddam been left alone, the Atlantic seaboard of the US would have been in that circle in no time at all.

Nelson..intelligence about ship,UAV on ship, capable of delivering WMD on east coast.Kay..They discovered UAV,capable of spraying, but not likely they could threaten east coast although a terrorist attack is possible.

.Poor Nelson was expressing chagrin thinking it was"imminent threat" as he has since found out there were disagreements in the intelligence community.Poor Nelson.

Levin is being deceptive...imagine that.

As much as I have studied Kay, I take what the NYT printed with a large grain of salt. They're always agendizing what they print.

Just tuning in now and thanks for the pings. Am I too late to listen to Hillary/Teddy play politics with their questions? Levin is speaking now and I don't know how much more I can sit through.

I'm listening to Levin's opening statement,I missed it.He is a partisan hack...calling for an investigation of how the intelligence was USED,ie how President and his advisors used it.Seems to think how it was gathered not enough.Kay is blowing his argument all to pieces.

Kay is more interested in Intelligence, how it failed as he believed it,Chirac believed it..all were wrong.

Iran and Libyan program info wrong.

It was farther along than intelligence said.

Iraq was in defiance of 1441,607.

No inappropriate "command influence".Wish it were improper influence,as the intelligence problem is much harder to fix than if it were.

By the end of Johnson administration intelligence improved as many were telling Kennedy there were no warheads in Cuba, etc which was wrong.

The committee needs to take on the burden of improving intelligence capability in this case, too.

Whether the Dems want to admit it or not, we had the UN's authority to go into Iraq as far back as 1998. I don't recall the resolution number, but it pertained to Iraq failing to comply with previous resolutions. Bush's detractors told Bush to go to the UN to get approval. Bush and Powell fudged around with the UN for no apparent reason whatsoever except to appeal the demands of the French, Germans, the Russians, and the Democrats.
