While we all know that this was the case, it is nevertheless quite remarkable that there is a paper trail to back it up.

Heads will roll.

Tip of the iceberg, Scott Ritter is next, BTTT.

Perhaps France should be removed from the security council. Why isn't the UN investigating? Why aren't the "multi-laterialists" outraged and demanding and investigation? (sound of crickets chirping)

Don't worry there are no liberal to convict you. On Saddam he bribe literally everyone, even the pope and vatican officials. Nothing new, in that part of the world or for that matter anywhere else.

Like we didn't know it before, but the UN has been in the back-pocket of France for a long time. To me, this undermines all of it's credibility..what little it had. I wonder what Kofi will have to say. Thank you, God, for a President who blasted and then circumvented this corrupt world organization.

This is idiotic. Any proof of this, or did you just have a brain fart?

Former French Interior Minister Charles Pasqua has denied claims that he received gifts from Saddam Hussein in return for supporting his regime.

And if you did receive such gifts, would you deny it afterward?

Al-Mada's list cites a total of 46 individuals, companies and organizations inside and outside Iraq as receiving Saddam's oil bribes, including officials in Egypt, Jordan, Syria, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Sudan, China, Austria and France, as well as the Russian Orthodox Church, the Russian Communist Party, India's Congress Party and the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Interesting if true. Muslims for Jesus

Kinda puts a different spin on the Left's ol' 'no blood for oil' chant, doesn't it?

It has been pointed out to me that Chirac is not specifically mentioned. Humph!? Is he mentioned in the French article? I don't like it that I may have made an incorrect assumption.

Perhaps France should be removed from the security council.

France can't be removed from the UN Security Council, because France along with the USA, Russia, China, and GB are permenant members of the council under the UN Charter.

Of course the reason Chirac built the Osirak nuclear facility for Iraq a few decades ago was for oil then too, so it is hardly surprising Chirac's government is yet again screwing over their allies and abusing their position in the UN for oil...
