That still does not explain why Saddam did not use them, though. I don't know, what is the point of having WMDs and to let them unused when the Coalition is out to get you ?

And if you can spirit them away to Syria, why on Earth stay at home in some spider hole instead of escaping with the weapons ? You could strike a deal with Syria, on the lines of "Hide me, and half the weapons are yours", after all...

My point is that the Dems are trying to pin this all on the Bush administration.

These Democrats were seeing the same intelligence reports that the administration was. They agreed with the call.

Now they are pointing fingers. They are liars and hypocrites.

A) He must have really believed Bush was just BSing him about the whole 48 hour thing.

or

B) He authorized his top generals to use them and they cut the deal w/ Syria and left Saddam Insane holding the bag.

People who have dangerous materials don't necessarily use them. They sell them, or give them to others to use and do the dirty work for them, or they have/develop them because their enemies (e.g., Iran) might have them, etc.

In Iraq, it was probably not too difficult for terrorists to get WMDs as a gift, by theft, by bribery, by buying them, or all of the above. The critics on the WMDs will come around when the WMDs are brought here and used.
